Non Steam game.I can't remember the name Hoping someone here might recognize it

Non Steam game that i played in past but since i have epilepsy i can't remember the name Hoping someone here might know it and what platform. Basically was game that i forget if you died or soul left your body and you would basically fuse with other Npcs and fix or sort out there troubles it was pretty fun had alot meat to the game fighting puzzles and as stated previously the ability to fix or change things for the npcs and then hope youd eventually go back to your own body while it was ? hidden and protected - something like that might have been a PS or xbox game system sorry again ik isnt steam but really have tried askign around and a friend mentioned how good steam players knowledge is often and someone here might remember it .

just googled the game and darn not it but ty trying . it was more along lines of art/graphic style like chronocross or such rpg like game then a shooter . sorry trying hard to remember . one bad thing about epilepsy and seizures is some great memories get lost or fragmented . but im glad someone is trying help means alot .

was not a steam game but thanks , it was before steam was even a thing . im 44 now it was back when i was around 16-18 yrs old so was on gamecube/xbox/or one the PS 1 or 2 stations most likely . frusterating given i cant remember more to narrow it down

It hard to think of this I played over hundreds of games on console, but need more info, do you have any memory like any character looks, dialogue, theme of the game like medieval, future, modem world?

Was this a top down view, 3rd person, 1st person, side scroller?

Was there class, or just fixed characters?

Did it has leveling?

Spells? Guns?

I doubt anyone knows this game. But i do know it. I own a physical copy of it and played it. I doubt many people played this game because of it's rare and obscure nature. This game is not on steam, it is 20+ years old, and is quite rare in north america. Lucky for you, i collected and played alot of old rpg's back in the day that were obscure and rare.

This is a PS2 game released in 2001. It is called Tsugunai: Atonement. As i said, i doubt many people on steam ever heard of it or even played it. Your lucky i saw this post as i played this game and even own a physical copy of it still. I was one of the few people on here that played this game back in the day.

I got tired of square enix games after FFX then, so i basically started playing 3rd party rpgs. This was one of the ones i collected and played. I still remember how hard the little girl pirate puzzle was on the ship.

OP, let me know if this is the correct game, as i have a gut feeling it is. Note that the let's play video only shows the beginning part of the game where the main character storms the castle where he gets cursed.

Make sure to read the wikipedia page. Says it only sold 6.900 units. Guess i was lucky to buy it back in the day then when i saw it. The game fits all the criteria of the OP is looking for...it is a game not on steam, found in that era he mentions, and has soul possesion later in the game. The beginning starts out like a normal rpg with main character fighting monsters in a tower. Until he touches the treasure and gets cursed and his soul is thrown out of his body. He then has to help people by posessing their bodies and doing favours for them.

sadly not this one either but does look interesting. the graphics were more like orignal cronocross rpg stle. ill try remember more details, wasnt a shooter or top down game.
