Best you can do is sell your current Deck and use that to lessen the cost of the new Deck. That or just keep using your current Deck.
What kind of delusional question is this? Why on earth would you think this would even be a possibility? The answer is No. If you want the OLED Steam Deck then you have to buy it.
All you can do is list ad for your Steam deck that is for sale on eBay, or etc, and then use your earnings to buy your new Steam deck OLED.
Just to remind this isn't a new Steam deck 2.0, this just a refresh with OLED that it, think of Nintendo switch the did OLED version basically that it.
QLED ? Yes, maybe .. !
OLED ? No, never ever !
OLED is already becoming obsolete tech..
And especially on the Steam Deck, a display cannot be exchanged that easily, just like a TV or PC Monitor, or even a Laptop screen ..
OLED "greys-out" potentially fast .. you see differences in color and sharpen quality already after 2 years, i would stay far away from that ..
QLED on the other side begins to "grey-out" or noticeably to "wear-off" after 10~11 years..
So with this OLED Steam Deck, you literally buy a device for hundreds of bucks which you can trash after a few years already.. or to exchange its display in a whole. Ooh I see money flowing.. just as same as crApple does..
So are u saying that OLED is bad and QLED is good?
Apple does it alright.
Cool, last time I checked though we're on Steam, not Apple, and Steam sure isn't doing trade ins where you send in your "old" Steam Deck and receive a brand new OLED Steam Deck. That's a pretty crazy expectation to have here.
The new improvements seem to be more than battery life and an OLED screen. They improved the bluetooth on it, the track sensor is better, it runs cooler, and some other stuff you can look up on the official website. It's tempting, but the current one runs fine for me. If Steam makes a Steam Deck 2 or if they go with weird names like the Steam Deck 98 degrees; I might consider it.
If they face disappointing sales because everyone’s willing to get a deck is already sitting on an old one, they might very well offer a trade in program.
They do sell refurbished decks already after all, they know how to handle this stuff.
Lol anything to warrent this level of hostility?
So apple does it? Bully for them, Valve isn't an Apple company though.
Well that's not realistic: "Valve already sold all the Steam Deck's they're going to, so the only option to sell revisions is to incentivize current customers to trade theirs in."
I mean it's a lot of big if's and if it's not true then nothing you said will occur. And I'm not aware what evidence you have that would suggest that the only customers looking for an OLED Steam Deck are existing Steam Deck owners who are only interested if there's a trade in option... seems like a fantastic claim, so good luck producing that fantastic evidence.
No company really ever does that - the ROI is too low and not worth the cost of shipping/handling of equipment.
You're better off buying the new one and selling your old one to an another user at a slight loss (better than zero)
Actually - no they really don't. (Cell phones don't count and frankly its a total rip off generally when its all said and done)
I am not saying that you turn in your gen 1 deck and receive a gen 2 without a cost, but you get a credit toward buying the new model.
