RockStar is a standard alright. Not that standard though.
Yes. That's what users wanted when they weren't happy at the rate Valve was approving/adding indie games to the store. The trade off is anyone can add any pile of crap game if they've got $100 laying around. the upside is good games aren't arbitrarily held up due to bureaucracy.
Rose tinted glasses. No one ever believes they're wearing them. And they'll engage in whatever confirmation biases it takes to maintain their beliefs, even when there's lots of good games being released. And there's always been more mediocre games than good games, a fact people figure out how to ignore when convenient.
You're not wrong
People might be mad sure, but then they'll turn around and buy the next installment unquestionably.
Nope. Valve refuse to sell a variety of games for just as many reasons.
Honestly I prefer they not curate. Its not hard to find more good games then you'd ever have time to play. There have been so many indie games i've enjoyed like Vampire Survivors that might never have been on the store if they curated.
It just makes the discovery queue a depressing mess.
I wish there was a mass ignore button for those things.
While I do use GoG for their niche of making old games work on modern systems, I don't like their limited catalog. Same with Epic, btw. Such curated stores provide too little for me.
It's true we need to work a little harder these days to filter out the jewels from the trash. It's okay to be a bit pickier when selecting games.
I guess I could be grateful to have a place to complain about it, though. Viewpoints can be important as long as people realize theirs isn't the only ones that exist.
As I always like saying ... one man's trash is another man's treasure.
