Purchasing has become an hassle. Should I simply switch to Steam wallet cards? Should I keep these dead weights? (game, email, cards)
1) --- (Not actually a question, just context, but if someone wants to comment on my problem, be my guest)

I used to transfer money to my PayPal account. And then use the PayPall account on Steam. It was easy.

Now I have to have a valid card on my PayPal to purchase. I'm not sure if this is just related to PP, or Steam. But for now, to purchase, I have to generate virtual cards, which are valid for 1 (one) month.

Sometimes, associating these cards to my PP yields an error saying the card is already in use.
I really don't have the patience to go back and forth between my bank and PP to see whose fault it is.
What I do to fix this, is generate another card, and let the others get reduced to their insignifcance.

The worst part is that I have to do this in different machines, with different phones, for security reasons. It's an hassle.

2) ---

So I was thinking in just purchasing my yearly budget's worth of Steam wallet cards, and be done with it. But I wonder if there's any downside - like having to store the physical cards (either to prove authenticity, or if it could pose a risk if someone found them in the trash).

3) ---

BTW, I still have my Physical copy of Left 4 Dead 2 for this same issue (heard it could be used to prove the account was mine, just in case).
I also still maintain an old email which was tied to the account, but now is not attached to Steam anymore.

1) As far as I know it's a Paypal requirement. They want to have something associated they can bill to in case the PP wallet funds run out. If you don't want to link your bank account to Paypal, Steam wallet cards might be the solution. No other payment methods you can use?

2) It can be handy to store a bunch, yes. Though in general with proving account ownership, older proofs seem to always have preference.

3) Keeping the physical copy cna be handy for account recovery, yes. With regards to the old email, it's more important that you can exactly name it than whether you have it.
Just use your debit card or credit card to buy games. Then delete the card when you are done with the transaction.

Agreed. This is what I do.

I avoid Paypal. It has been too many problems, for too many people I know.
Just get free game on epic games. I'm using tencent's wallet at the moment. :steammocking::steamthumbsup:

This is what Steam asks for account recovery.

I used have a debit card that was meant for online purchases. I just needed to transfer enough money to it and then use it without worries because I always had less than residual 5€ in it. But I believe my bank currently doesn't have an option for this product.

I also see this option that roughly translates to "payment by ATM", but there's this entity I never heard about. (I'll need to ask on forums of my country about it.)
If I could just make a service payment from my bank, and only available on Steam when they've made sure the transaction is complete, it would be ideal.
I'd be careful with 2. Do such codes expire in your country?

Where I live, wallet codes expire after 180 days. If you haven't activated them by then, you lose them. You'll also want to check what the upper limit is for funds store in a Steam wallet.

IDK.
But if I bought them, I would immediately insert them.
I just buy wallet credit every so often. It's basically just easier for me since I don't use paypal that much.

I use Capital One that lets you generate unique credit card numbers for a websites. Then any breach of information does not impact the actual card number
Try GOG, not tied to running a launcher like Valve and DRM Free. (You can use Galaxy but only for convenience, game does not need it.)

Some games do, at least for multiplayer.

And how does that address their concerns about using a card to buy online?
Sorry for the necro.
I found a CC laying around (that I never used) and seems to be tied to my bank, so I wanted to try it. 2 questions:

4) Can I use it on more than one Steam account?

5) In the (Visa) formulary, what should I do (check-button at the bottom) if I want to keep my personal info (name, address) saved, but not the CC info (number, expiration, code)?
I would not use a credit card online.
Why dont you stay with paypal, but associate it with your bank account?
That way you dont hand out credit card info each time you buy.
Use 2 factor for paypal.
And be carefull where you login.

With a credit card you hand over all data each time you purchase.
