Make verify game files fast again
Didn't we all enjoy it when steam did this before?

what? data verification is dependent on:

1. size of game
2. number of files
3. your hardware

Validating game files could take up to a few seconds for over 100GB!

I Have seen that happen!

For sure I did see that! managed too reinstall my entire library in a couple of mins.

What does reinstalling have to do with verification?

If you place the game's files into the common folder, and hit the reinstall button within steam for said game then it re-installs it via validating the files witch also places a entry into windows's installed programs list.

Things you can do to speed up read /write heavy processes.

Install games on a ssd instead a 30-50 Times slower hdd.

okay op your computer is the issue your encountering steam did not make it slower your computer did steam just calls on the computer to give it those files

i as a programer can tell you, that you have bad hardware as in the hardware can no longer keep up with newer games its just simple get file from computer command which means the speed has everything to do with how well your computer is able to run it

had to do a clean install other day and my games took no time reading them to my library and i probably have about 8tb of steam games in my storage, hdd and ssd

I have nvme's, and still the process takes too long, I could be so much better of if it would just speed up like it used too...
