I would rather have greater control over my system and the responsibility that entails than exchange any amount of either for a false sense of security.
100% true, some of these people think you can just catch this stuff by going online.... been using pc's since the 80's and the only time i ever picked up a virus, was clicking on BS i already knew would be bad.
the best security for a pc, is the user behind the keyboard, they need to know the in and outs, of not clicking random links, not clicking on emails they never asked for or know where they are coming from.... looking for spelling of links or emails, blocking pop-ups and a few other things.
i been running my current pc for going on 8 years with zero third party antivirus, only windows firewall and windows crappy "antivirus", while running win 7 (even during it being "outdated" and now with win 11.... same goes for other pc's i have had in the past.
a third party antivirus is only as good as the user(s), if a single virus makes it through, then the whole antivirus is compromised and allows all other viruses/ect.. through, not including they suck up pc performance for no reason at all and cause issues with downloads and games.
for anyone even close to being somewhat literate with pc's and the internet, all one needs is to learn how to use the internet, use blockers for pop-ups/ect..., you can also use a portable antivirus that scans/fixes before booting into windows (most run off linux) and also you can do you downloads on a "throw away" pc, in general a secondary pc/laptop that you can easily wipe and start over without hassle, to check and scan downloaded stuff.
there are a ton of other things one can do to keep themselves safe online, no matter if the OS is "outdated" or "unsecure" or w/e, but also windows in general is unsecure, no matter how much anyone including microsoft says its safe/safer.
90% of the cve's from win 7/8 are all the same ones you can find on win 10.... 10 and 7 are basically the same code base, with win 11 being a bit different due to their "newer" security measures and w/e else they changed.
linux might be safer, but its not as user friendly, doesnt have full support for games and is much more trouble than its worth to an average person who just wants to load up their pc and watch something, or play a game.
that all being said, no one cares if you dont like win 7 users, or threads talking about them.... its a public forum and you can easily not read it and move on, also no amount of whining about people using what you deem bad, is going to stop anyone from doing what they choose to do and it has zero effect on you.
-------------------------
but as always, others need not bother trying to argue, bait arguments, be rude and insulting, ect..., cause it aint changing anything and it aint stopping anyone from making their own choices, you have no say in the matter.
ya, thats not how that works, everything i have said is complete fact, i wont be playing your games with bait arguments, harassing me and trying to slander me, because you have some personal vendetta, if you dont like me, then block and ignore me, instead of spouting misinformation.
dont need to quote you, just reply.
--------------
others baiting arguments, among other stuff, will be ignored as well (and i will keep saying it).
Like, you DON'T need to tell the world that you won't reply to people. You indirectly do it every times you're editing your post, showing that they still affect you. Otherwise, you would just ignore them. In short, why not follow your own advice? o.O. You'd feel better.
I knew it XD You can't stop doing it. You are NOT ignoring it, that's your entire problem right there. You're literally responding to it every single times in your own edits. What you say you're going to do and what you actually do are conflicting. Think about that a little.
For someone that keeps saying he won't engage, MonkehMaster certainly engages a fair bit...
engaging in a discussion and engaging with people who add nothing to the discussion but arguing, slander and harassment, who directly target me every time i make a comment in the forum.... are 2 very different things.
just sayin.
THIS doesn't need to be said, from someone who claims that we will be ignored.
