From the information I have gathered, some people are having the same issue when using their asus rog steam deck rip off /j on steam bpm, but I'm using a pc... (and yes, I can buy normally on the steam client, but its much easy to buy on big picture mode for me ;-;)
And also when I reported this to steam support this was their response:
Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
We appreciate you letting us know about this issue. I'll make sure that this is passed on to the development team.
What might be happening, is prob related to me changing the Lan settings on internet options (can't remember why, but I've already went back to the default settings tho) or, maybe because I'm using a firewall (I've allowed all steams conections, so Idk), other than that, I have no idea.
And yes I've tried to reinstall steam, clean the download cache, change to steam beta too and start steam with admin rights (wait, does it make a difference if I install Steam on my main drive or should I install it in a alternative drive?, because the C drive has more security?).
Thank you so much for replying btw
We appreciate you letting us know about this issue. I'll make sure that this is passed on to the development team.
Valve has been dishing out a lot of Messages like this one above...
Instead of saying we will work on fixing it...
They throw in messages, like we'll pass it on with the Team...
What does that even mean? Your just going to ignore it? You gonna fix it?
Valve won't give you a straight answer, because they probably
aren't going to do anything about it...
Valve hasn't fixed one single Bug since they started doing whatever they are doing...
The only Bugs they fix are the ones where they still get Money...
So chances are, if you can't fund them, maybe they'll actually fix the problem,
who really knows... They don't seem to do anything anyone asks, so it's like
why even bother Reporting something anymore, if it's just going to be ignored...
I had similar responses previously when I contacted them through steam support about the same issue, so we just have to wait I guess until they get their sh!t together
And yes, that exactly what I was thinking, why they havent fixed this issue yet, when its literally (exaggerating) makes me not want to buy games and wait longer because sometimes Im lazy and don't want to exit bpm.
You have to understand how support departments work within a larger company.
For starters, they have access to certain things on your account, but nothing else. MAYBE some insight concerning ongoing activities/problems, but I wouldn't bet on that.
THEY certainly can't fix anything, even if some support guy had the know-how to do so.
What they can do, however, is "escalate". That's a good thing from a users perspective -- it means your problem is either passed to the next higher support level (i.e. the more competent people with more insight and access), or it's sent towards the development department.
If it is sent to the next support tier they'll likely come back to you because that's what support does.
However, if its given to the development, they'll probably put it into their bug list, look at it, and figure out whether its something they need to fix or not. Chances are you'll not be hearing back from them (they are not support), unless the company procedures have them give feedback to the support, which will then forward it to you.
With Steam being a company that deals with millions of users and low-value purchases, I very much doubt they have a higher-tier support at all, and they probably don't come back to you when development has looked at the issue. For Steam support, you had an issue, they have informed development, case closed.
Things are likely different if, for example, Ubisoft has a problem with their Steam presence. I can't be sure, of course, but I tend to assume they even have a phone number for a higher-level support guy that they can call 24/7, and if he can't immediately help them he won't be putting it into a ticket queue or something -- there'll be a constant calling and updating with all involved parties.
But, of course, "sad" as it may be -- who do you think Steam HQ considers to be the more valued customer? You? Or Ubisoft?
Note that the latter instructions will disable updates until you remove said steam.cfg file.
I know how to update the client. The issues is, you update and restart, yet the store still give you the error, and if you go back to update client, it appears that the update didn't install. (I'm not sure if the Oct 31 installed, or if the error is that the client isn't recognizing it as install, even though it is).
Yes, I can buy through a browser, but . . . if it's a title on sale that I think maybe . . . then I don't take the time to hassle with Steam's bug.
