Why do I need to be online to view my own screenshots which I just took?
See title. Screenshots do not work in Offline Mode. Had to go rooting through random files and folders like a garbage rat to find my own content.

I mean having to find files and folder on your system isn't some awful and heinous thing you've been subjected to. Arguably once you've uploaded a new screenshot those files can be deleted locally and Valve's system works off the online servers. If you want to view local files, you might have to go look in their local locations. Whether or not you feel that's garbage rat behavior or not is your own deal. It sounds silly to me though.

Have you actually tried doing this, or are you just blindly defending DRM of your own user created content for some reason?

It's literally a cluster-♥♥♥♥. Bunch of folders with random numbers and filenames. Steam used to show your screenshots offline, now it doesn't. This is a regression and a seriously stupid bug.

Works just fine for me offline. And you also don't have to go digging: just use your Steam client. Of course it does help to understand how this stufl works....

Check your Steam client settings, in specific check the "Interface" tab: at the bottom it has an option "taskbar preferences", make sure to enable "screenshots".

After that you just right click on the Steam client icon in your system tray, select screenshots and go wild from there. You can also tell it to show you the screenshots on disk so there's no reason to start rummiging through this manually.

Online, offline.. makes no difference.

The folder numbers aren't random. The user folder is an older account number, and the screenshot folders use the appID of the associated games. If you actually put in a modicum of effort, locating local copies of game screenshots is extremely easy.

I mean, it's a functionality that is now lost with this awful update. It's reasonable to be mad about something that was forcibly removed.

So is this going to get addressed? Do any Steam devs watch these forums? I mean, this is such a ridiculous and silly bug.

I hope so.

Locally saved screenshots can't be managed or loaded in the Steam application without an internet connection, but they can be taken.

Like right this minute? Most likely not.

I would imagine some might browse them occasionally. You won't get a response from one, if that's what you're after.

Your screenshots are always here.

\Steam\userdata\XXXXX\760\remote <--- Replace XXXXX with your ID.

There's just a bunch of folders with random numbers in there. How is that useful?
Pscht Dec 28, 2023 @ 5:05pm
The "random numbers" are the assigned Steam ID for every game. The very same number is also shown when looking at that game's store page or forum, in the address bar.
Start_Running Dec 28, 2023 @ 5:29pm
You don't. Your screenshots are all stored locally until you upload them. EVen after you upload them in some cases. You just need to go to the game's directory
