Metacritic is useless
This website are just impostors it's not the first time i remark they are hidding bad reviews for some new games, last example in date Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - New 'n' Tasty you can see a lot of green reviews but the 6 yellow and 1 red are hidden of course. Now we have the steam recommendation system, i don't think we need these impostors now and trust me this website will die quickly once it's not on steam anymore.

Sorry to break it to you, but Steam messes with reviews more than Metacritic...

10/10 would review again
Only my opinion matters...

...when I buy a game for myself.

Pretty much this, Reviews should only be used as an indicator of whether or not the game is polished and/or being supported. Many people will hate your favorite games simply because they are not their "type".

The Steam reviews are even worse than Metacritic reviews. Sorry.

Steam uses the professional review score on the store page and not the user score. So it's not all that bad. Odds are though that they could have been bribed.

It's a good thing Steam doesn't show the user Metacritic score. Now THAT would be a disaster.

The only reviews I tend to read are ones that have pros and cons listed, but I only usually bother if it's an expensive game.

You shouldn't really used reviews as the only "end-all" to decide whether or not to buy the game. They definitely do help, but my suggestion would be to go around to various sites such as GameFAQs or possibly JoyStiq to see if they have a differing opinion on to their thoughts of a game. Personally, I don't necessarily read game reviews, instead choosing "do I want it or not?"

A lot of games look very, very good and have many positive reviews. A good number of them tend to fall flat whereas games that look good, but have a ton of negative reviews have actually been a lot of fun to play. Just do your research, look into the game, see if there is any gameplay footage of it then make your decision of whether or not to buy the game.

I don't look at reviews, if I like the game I'm going to buy it.

I gave up on Metacritic a LONG time ago. There are so many crappy, biased reviewers on there, like GameSpot and Quarter to Three, that are just pathetic excuses for game reviewers. That's why if I actually read a review, I only go to places that I know for a fact produce quality, unbiased reviews for games.

But in the end, buying a game should come down to you. Watch gameplay videos and read about updates from the game. Also, don't pre-order games. I've lost count of how many games I've pre-ordered over the years that promised what they didn't deliver. Look at Watch Dogs; so much hype over that game that you could taste it, and then we got that mess of a game. That game has caused me to be jaded towards all new releases and never pre-order again.

I wish that Steam would get rid of the metacritic score and let the users give the scores for games instead. Just because they call themselves an official review site, doesn't mean they are worth a crap.

I love the myth of unbiased reviews. All reviews are gonna be a little biased, its only human. I prefer reviewers that I know have similiar tastes to me, and I also use friends and what they have to say about a game to help with my purchasing decision. Truthfully though that only helps a small amount, I could have a friend say the game sucked and a reviewer I trust say it sucked but if I am interested enough in it, I will still pick it up.

Yes it is. Sword of the Stars got like 60% and it's awesome game. And many more cases. Not to saying about sellout journalists who give 10 score for some games.

Steam should remove metascore from store page, so people do put some effort googling/youtubing about game instead of looking "oh, it have 6/10, therefore it's bad game"

Metacritic scores are also weighted differently for different sites, so even if you see a lot of negative reviews and someone with a higher weight like IGN makes a review it may end up balancing out.

The company that made New 'n tasty is pretty damn small so there is an incredibly small chance of them bribing.
