Kaspersky preventing anything from the Steam client from loading
Steam won't load anything aside from the Library, displaying errors -101, -103, -105, etc. telling me I had no internet when the net was running just fine.. which is odd because a few hours ago Steam was functioning perfectly.

I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting download cache, browser cache all the options client wise, nada. Then I tried individually turning Kaspersky's protections off one by one to check if there were any changes and put anything from Steam/Valve on exclusions, still nada.

Turned Kaspersky off, then viola, everything started working again. Turned it back on and it slowly broke until it only showed error pages again.

I now know that Kaspersky is the problem and closing it fixes it, but can someone who has dealt with something similar to this tell me if there's something I'm missing that'll let me fix this issue without having to close KIS everytime I want something to do with Steam?

Also first post here, dunno if I'm posting in the right place. Sorry bout that.

Kaspersky security Suit with firewall?
if so it probably would be enough to turn the firewall off...........if you not want to uninstall that stuff forever.

I'm using Kaspersky Total Security with Steam just fine.

May want to uninstall Kaspersky, clear the configuration files, then reinstall it. Could be something got corrupt or mis-configured.

Could also try Kaspersky's forums and support page. They may be better able to help track and resolve the issue.

its a myth that companies perpetrate about malware like is some boogeyman that attacks you when you walk around alone at night when in reality its the companies themselves that run these things that do this, nothing happens without your isp being involved in it, as for example stuff like vpn exists solely because virtually anyone can substitute your internet traffic with anything it likes, ie you download a fake av or win update and viola you got infected even with all securtity things in place, as well what i noticed is most "secuirty" feature are actually malware itself that can modify your os files any moment it likes through remote control by virtually any reason and whatever person who has access to it, ie you virtually are a hamster on a wheel when you use any software with closed source, including linux since i think many parts like gpu drivers are still using closed source architechture whip probably with 99 percent accuracy includes malware.

You don't need an AV unless other people use your PC or you visit suspicious websites.

I just solved this on my end a while ago. Just about all of my Steam games can't connect to servers (DoAXBV, Action Taimanin), there are errors connecting to account servers (KF2, DST), etc. and the only solution was to "Pause protection" of Kaspersky on the Taskbar.

Actual solution: Go to Device Manager > Network Adapters. Look for any broken ones with Kaspersky in its name and delete or uninstall it. Uninstall Kaspersky, restart, then reinstall it.

"Kaspersky Security Data Escort Adapter" should now be fixed.

You have no need of external anti-virus programs since Windows 7 was around. Defender just worked. And still does in 10.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
