You're asking this on a site that caters to people who play video games. If you're never to old to play a video game, you're never too old to play with legos. Leave your "friend" alone. You have no right to dictate how they enjoy their time.
If anything, your "friend" needs to replace you with someone who's willing to accept him for being him.
I turn 45 in a month and i have a bunch of LEGO sets and from other producers, mostly ships and some video game related stuff like the Tallneck from Horizon Zero Dawn.

Its fun to build something like this and it looks very nice as a desktop decoration.
I dont "play" with them , but its about the same as any model building hobby to me, just more relaxed.
I've still got the 18 wheeler recovery truck in "as built" condition (IE, missing a few bits LOL) but the other sets are all just piled in a big box together. It would take ages to sort them through, and if even 1 set is complete i'd be surprised.
Lego can be used for all kinds of things though. Did you see they've even started using Lego to build 3D printers? Yup, someone made a working 3D printer out of Lego...
Btw, other manufacturers do impressive things. There's a castle made from Lego pieces that comes in various sets (yes, they have DLCs... eh, extensions), and sums up to about 22000 pieces. Not sure whether that still qualifies as "suitable for kids"...
Also, the only two games I've played this year with a thumb-up were rated PEGI-12 and E-10+.
So what? Age rating are recommended MINIMUM ages, not max...
The purpose of life is fun, rather than fitting an image deemed normal. But also to realize that it's also beneficial to increase the amount of people and things to include as target to gain fun for together and to enlargen the view of how everything affects everything.
While on first sight, going with the flow seems beneficial, standing up instead of strengthening it is heroic.
A disadvantage of Lego? Focus too much and the easiest requirements to be allowed to use them strengthen the hamster wheel, as you follow the flow again.
This is a huge problem.. those people will never be really happy. Happy of what? buying a new car? come on.. happyness doesnt come from material.. if it was, every Rich MOFA in this world would be extremly happy. Ask BillGate if he's happy lol
That sentence made my day
To answer your question, he is fine, as long as he doesn't put himself in debt due to the hobby. Some of the new LEGO sets are ridiculously expensive...
Oh, I get it. This is an attempt at humor. Carry on.
