Opt out of the beta.

But it will eventually get pushed out to all users.

Why?? you want old and buggy back when the new is not even done, steam is big and things like this take time to update.

literally had 0 problems with the old. This one takes me longer to find around ind. "hurr durr you get used to it" not when everything shows what I dont want/need.

The Beta version of the Steam client has some new UI features. If you opt into the Beta, you can try it out for yourself.

Steam > Settings > Account >> Beta participation > Click on Change... in the next window select Steam Beta Update > Click OK > Click Restart Steam
The client will restart, download the Beta, and reopen.

Bear in mind that it is Beta, not Stable, so things may not work as you expect them to.

Go back to Stable.

To go back to Stable....
Steam > Settings > Interface >> Client Beta Participation > select No beta chosen from the drop down list > Click Restart Now
Client will restart, download the Stable version, and reopen.

it's a beta lol. The point is that they're testing it to iron out issues & bugs.

when they changed to the current UI from the previous one, i had no issue using it. They were way different, but it was a huge improvement.

however, this new UI is basically just a texture pack update. It doesn't change the fundamentals of Steam. All your stuff is the same, but now it's just in a nicer-looking box and that's about it.

I tried the new beta for a few days but found out that 3 of my games would no longer load at all. Soon as I went back to the normal public version all 3 games loaded and worked again. Won't bother with the beta again.

You'll be able to use VGUI after the big update lands to Stable using -vgui launch flag, but Chat and all the Friends Network-related stuff currently doesn't work in that mode (Valve please fix).

Never had any problem with the old UI. Now I'm having a nightmare with the new UI.
opt out of beta?

Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result isn't the definition of insanity, it's certainly insane though. Every. Single. Time. There's any change to the UX, people complain about the change, touting the now-new thing as the literally worst since Hitler and the now-old thing as absolute perfection. Every. Single Time. The thing that is good now, has been bad before. Every. Single. Time. The new thing that's bad now, will be good the next time there is a change.

That is insane indeed.

I don't know what's happening, but I just logged in today to the OLD UI! I've never felt more powerful!

Wait, I think it's a hybrid of the old and new UI. It definitely has the look and power the old UI but some buttons are from the new one. I hope Steam is starting to see the awesomeness of the old UI and decided to build the new UI based on it.
