And Gabe Newell worked as a programmer/engineer for Microsoft Windows back in time.

Windows 10 and 11 could ever be installed as local admin with a simple command prompt. Even Home editions. No online accounts, no cloud services.. purely local.
During installation you can also disable most data collection and telementry stuff. The few others in Windows after installation. There even exists MS Office 2021 (LTSC) which is identical with Office 365, just without monthly fees and without the cloud..
everything is in your hand.. not in "theirs"..
you have no idea what is going on nor this youtube guy and his absolutely misleading video clip which you have spreaded here around..
so stop spreading this misleading panic-doing stuff, you have been reported!
if your going to be using a computer for another 10 years
you might want to reevaluate your thoughts how
old and unsupported you
want your OS to be...
Feel free! Most likely you are already baited to the "FREE" beautiful new world of Microsoft, then you are realized your fault and now you are desperately trying to find something to legitimize your mistake!!!
My little awkward "friend". I have used Microsoft Windows since 1991.
..and Linux Debian since ~2005..
All you do here on Steam is to persuade yourself with lies and false intel, cuz you dont know it better.. and want to even spread that ridiculous and false stuff around..
"Privacy issues" in Windows 10, 11 and upcoming 12 are a joke compared to Steam itself. Even "NSA conspiracies" are a joke compared to Steam..
Steam logs, stores and backups just "EVERYTHING" you do on it. ANY chat, ANY discussion, even ANY DELETED content is still saved, since 2009!! EVERYTHING!!
https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata
Steam Moderators and Admins even have MORE access and tools to your content than you do yourself..
In Windows 10 and 11 you are even able to disable this "data collection" except "minimum diagnostics" just like it works on Linux to gather updates etc, while on Steam you cant at all!!
You are fit in disabling data collection on your Smartphone? Well, become fit to disable this on Windows 10 and 11. You can even disable most during a fresh and clean install, afterwards you need to disable your Ads-ID on your freshly installed Windows OS.. that's all.
You may ask Steam Support to delete this whole stored content, but they will answer it wont be possible and so only a complete Steam Account deletion works. Though pictures, and workshop content and such can be PERMANENTLY deleted by Steam Support of course.
All you "consumer" guys and especially pensioner have not a slightest idea what is going on .. it is a "skill issue", which is exploited by everybody.
Also what if you have 2 older PCs that run windows XP and 7 so you can play old video games without a hassle. What then? You can't start Steam.
Luckily we are no friends, i see behind these megacorporations's logic, which is built on lies and profits, which involves data fishing by deceiving users. If you are a user with long past of Microsoft, then it is obvious what happened through years, if you do not see it its just because you do not want to see.
Because Microsoft has EOL'd Windows 7 three years ago already:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-7-support-ended-on-january-14-2020-b75d4580-2cc7-895a-2c9c-1466d9a53962
One way or the other... Windows 7 lasted us 11 years in total, officially.
Now let's take a look at Linux... in specific: Ubuntu LTS, see this blog post from 2020[ubuntu.com]. So, the first thing you will notice is that while Ubuntu can last you 10 years as well you'll actually have to pay them for those last 5 years. So basically it'll last you 5 years, Microsoft provides the whole 10+ years for free.
But here's the kicker: a regular Ubuntu version only lasts you 9 months, after that period you need to upgrade. Just check their download page[ubuntu.com] for proof of this.
Which means that while you can seemingly upgrade from one Windows version to the other, with Ubuntu LTS you'll eventually be forced to upgrade across several major releases at once. And that can become a really tricky process, many guides heavily advice against it.
Should the upgrade process between LTS versions fail for some reason then the official suggestion is to upgrade to all versions in between one by one. I'm not making this up.
So basically... while Linux is most definitely a solid and worthy OS, no arguments from me on that, it's a bit ironic to push this in response to Windows 7 going EOL after 10 years, because on Linux you have to constantly update and upgrade your OS. Why do you think some users became obsessed with uptime?
Another thing: Windows tries to keep the UI pretty much the same, because in the end they're still trying to sell a product so they try to keep their customers happy. Now go look at some of the major desktop managers used in Linux... Gnome and / or KDE have drastically changed their appearance and the way they work dozens of times already within their lifespan.
While you can be sure that Windows 11 will provide a lot of the same stuff which we have in Windows 10 you can't say the same thing for Linux; maybe it will but maybe it won't. There are 0 guarantees. The next version of KDE can easily turn the whole thing around, so that you have to re-learn everything again. It has happened in the past, it'll happen again.
So yah, you may want to take all of this into consideration as well... I'm not saying it's bad, it's not, but in comparison you get a lot more upgrade woes eventually.
its perspective.... those 98% arent jumping up and down with paranoia
they are using window 10 and above... and will be playing games in the future...
playing games...
Looking into Bill Gates' SEC filings says.... oh, him "leaving" Microsoft doesn't matter.
So why do you need to log onto your Microsoft account in order to be able to access it for the first time?
You're right. Microsoft's code is 100% open source so you can totally trust it!
No
Really? Even though everything you said was pretty wrong? Hmmmm....
Hmmmm....
Man, this is a tough one.
Well, I think the safe position is to blindly follow and obey billionaires and never question them or suspect them of anything, even one that's come out and said he wanted to use vaccines and reproductive care to limit population growth... and then invested in pharmaceutical companies.
Yeah... I really shouldn't believe what people say and let other people tell me what they mean.
Newbie.
Compared the data Steam collects from its users compared what an OS can collect is the tip of the iceberg.
Sorry im not gonna reply on that updated post i'd be too long.
Its not only that video. I've following other Tech pros Like Mudahar's Ordinary Gamers who also a professional with millions of followers, and i trust these folks, they are on the same opinion.
But overall, as mentioned, its up to everybody what they wanna use, just do the research!!!!
You dont! No Microsoft Account needed for "a first login" nor during clean installation..
I completely wipe all my devices every 3rd or 4th month per year..
This shows you have no any idea as well which makes all your other (offending) sentences obsolete.
"Everything I had written is wrong.." re-evaluate yourself and your lies first please.. before posting your stupid ignorance.
And I question any- and everything every minute, which doesnt have to interest you at all.
P.s.:
Windows 7 Starter and Ultimate had been my alltime favourite OS as well.. just in case.
credit cards
phone bills
utility bills
search engines
street cameras
data collection was also pre internet...
all this data collection does not make me buy more cola...
how have you been controlled by this bloat data collection.....
apart from the paranoia taking up free space in your brain...
How's your credit score?
