Again, I agreed that they did, as they filed a DMCA to get Dolphin removed.
That doesn't mean Dolphin Emulator can't come back after removing the offending code.
And? It says everything that I had said.
Nintendo filed a DMCA.
Dolphin used code owned by Nintendo.
Dolphin can remove the code and find a work around for the code, then return to Steam after an OK from the the court, after confirmation the offending code was removed.
Even if Dolphin Emulator goes bankrupt, their code is open source so anyone can continue the work, provided they remove the offending code.
I did.
Yes, it was banned.
That does not mean that Valve can't clear it to return after the court verifies the copyrighted code is removed.
FYI Steam can ban it, or not. The state of the issue is using code that is not their, if that code is removed, and replaced, then they can relist if they want, the ones that can ban is Steam, not Nintendo, Steam can remove content under DMCA, if you don't know what DMCA means Digital Millennium Copyright Act, it meant that if use code that not yours, or distributing it that is not yours, this means they can file copyright claim, to which it up to Steam NOT Nintendo to take said content down that how it works.
So it up to the Dolphin team to figure out their Wii problem, they can strip out the wii, and just gives us gamecube, and that all fine, the issue is using bit of code that for Wii that is the problem.
And I suggest you actually WATCH the video, don't cherry pick what he say, LISTEN to what he said.
Valve is required to remove it due to the DMCA. Dolphin can file a counter claim and go to court with Nintendo, show that the code was removed and request it be re-instated on Steam.
That is how the system works.
Correct. Downloading ROMs is illegal. Making your own is not, as long as you don't distribute it. Home brewed games for said emulators are also not illegal.
As the videos posted, even by you, had stated it was due to some of Nintendo's code being used. Remove the code and the emulator becomes legal again.
Maybe, maybe not. That is up to the Dolphin developer after the issue with the code is settled. If it doesn't use Nintendo's code, then it can be reinstated on Steam and Nintendo has no say in the matter.
