I would like to get Jurassic World Evolution - but I had a look at SteamDb for an idea of sale prices etc, and it seemed to indicate that the game has been reduced by around 75% on a regular basis over the past 12 months. Anyone know if that is right? Only I would be quite miffed if I paid full price to find a week later it was reduced by 75%.

Steam DB doesn't make up their numbers. Lots of games go on sale fairly frequently. You either wait for them to go on sale, or decide paying full price is worth it to you.

If It was a game I wanted to play right now, well $44.99 isn't that much money. Sure paying $11.24 would be a better deal and cheaper, but waiting weeks to save $33 doesn't always make sense. After all, how long does it take you to make $33?

One of the things allowed by the refund system is you can refund a game and buy it for the sale price, presuming you qualify for the refund.

At any rate I've paid extra money for rush shipping in the past, because waiting a week and a half to save $30 just wasn't worth it to me. I tend to do the same thing with games, if I pay the full price I've made a decision not to wait for a sale. I'm not gonna get mad if the game goes on sale unexpectedly, I already made my choice.

SteamDB just gathers and tracks publicly available stuff so if it says it goes on sale that often, they it goes on sale that often.

Support will allow refunds(IIRC) for situations of buying a game and it going on sale the next day. As long as it is under the 2 weeks and 2 hours.

Ok thanks. I will just wait and see. If it was only n sale once or twice I would get it now, but it showed a reduction every six weeks or so. And at 75% off that is worth waiting for.

It's routinely been sale, most likely you can expect a massive discount at worst in a few months around Nov/Dec in at least one store, but you can set up an alert on isthereanydeal to notify you if it drops below $10 from any store for instance

Quite simply, don't buy games at full price that have established discount histories.

Simple rule here, as it's one I've used for decades.

If cost is an issue to you, WAIT. It's all about YOUR metrics and what YOU determine for games.

So, I'm a cheapskate and I'm patient. I only buy games when they're discounted. I never buy games anywhere near release. This is obviously a nicely self-fulfilling cycle as it means I get more games for my money, meaning I'm never without something to play anmd therefore I can wait to buy the next lot of games and so on.

So, yes that data as others have pointed out is correct. What you do then is note down what you want, and what it can go for and simply wait. The two major seasonal sales on Steam are the obvious times to rely (Summer and Winter) but there's others regularly to keep your eye for too.

This is how I buy my games and as long as you can wait, it's fine.
