This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
And?
Do mods/their superiors know how a forum works? An information isn't BAD or WRONG just because it is old. How ridiculous is this procedure? Even more annoying than people with their "necro spam" obsession.

I can't count the amount of OLD threads that contain valuable information and sometimes you want to contribute to make it whole. I don't care if you close threads that talk about games or apps with years old versions etc. That makes sense to close but as a general rule I fail to see the benefit.

A lot of the necroposts that bumped it in the first place are generally pointless comments.

That's what i noticed, people saying "thanks", doesn't really contribute anything.

I mean, there was a guy that was willingly bumping 10 years old threads a couple of days ago...

And if I remember correctly, that user may have admitted that they were necro-posting just to be annoying. Threads that are 9 to 11 years old, with additions since then, that people necro to be annoying or to attack or rant at posts from a decade ago, those threads should be locked, and hopefully that user was punished.

Better to create a new thread then re-post in a 9 year old thread where many of the repsonses and info might no longer be relevant. I've seen multiple threads like that where people got confused because the earlier advice people gave was flat out wrong because it was so old.

Normal practice here, followed in many other online forums too. :)
Nothing special or wrong.

EDIT: Some other forums I visit even show a big RED letters warning to tell you the thread you are about to bump is very old, but of course you can still go ahead and "necro" it, if you so wish.

Just because they want people to use the search option to find old threads to possibly solve an issue, doesn't mean you need to bump 'em.

if search brings up an old thread with a solution you need read an move away
if no solution make your own thread

Thanks for the input guys. I still have mixed feelings about the thing

They just locked a LFG disscusion people were using consistently for Lord of The Rings War in the North. Can we appeal this and make them unlock it? Whenever people still need achievements they were posting in a 2 year old thread to find people and anyone that got helped that's still subscribed to the discussion would see people still need help. This shouldn't be so casually locked 🙁

Or just delete the thread when mods do the copy paste thing and you can't even reach OUT to the mod (like a PROPER forum site) you have to reopen the topic with a fresh new one with fresh solutions. Rather than just doing the lazy 'stock reply' and haha 'locked'. Just delete the post it's way less confusing that way. Or just leave the forum open and someone can add fresh insight to it, even if it's galzillion years old because something new might surface and/or a solution, rather than making a brand new posts. It would really help preventing multiple posts that become old. I've seen some forum sites (as just as an observer I don't even have an account there) that really put ban hammer down on folks to the extreme if they A: Make a dupe post similar to old post and B: Post to the old post since it's a nerco post. In the end they are C: Stuck w/o any help other than a mod telling them 'Please don't do that' vs helping a fellow community member out and pointing them in the right direction.

The Steam support mods are only here for reactive moderation. If you want a topic re-opened, contact support through the ticket system and ask.

People have done this with success multiple times.
