Steam is now selling erotic games to children openly?
Visual Novel section was always a pain on Steam and there are so many erotic games which bypass mature, adult content filters. I already filtered Visual Novel section. They put women pictures with huge boobs, mini skirts to their games and sell these garbage games to children. They are all about sex.

Now they arranged a Visual Novel week and they are spreading some erotic stickers. You get a pink background erotic boy, woman pictures permanently to your account.

What a shame.

I think it's funny to see how OP is basically admitting to the fact that they've been looking up plenty of pr0n games in the recent past, and the result of that is now showing in their recommended games overview.

See... I'm also one of those guys who can appreciate some 'adult entertainment' from time to time, therefor I disabled all content filters in Steam (save for the EA games; I'm usually not interested). However, I'm not constantly looking for adult games, just like I don't only go out looking for RPG or fantasy based games.

As a result... when I go to that visual novel overview screen... I only got to see 2 titles which are tagged for 'adult' and 'sexual contents'; however their store page isn't set to adult only, so.... yah.

I don't see any problem here....

So, I had a look at the avatars we can get during this event (they're not stickers, but avatars): https://steamdb.info/app/2540780/communityitems/

So, OP, which of these exactly are "erotic"?

Except Valve have no age checks to prevent people from buying age-inappropriate games. In fact, in that respect, they are blatantly disregarding Japanese law by allowing the purchase of CERO Z rated (adult only) games using wallet funds. Such games are, legally, only supposed to be purchasable online with credit cards -- as that is the system Japan uses for age checking.

Same here in Germany. Difference is that the German government actually complained to Valve and demanded the use of a verifiable age check system like its used in Germany for adult online purchases.
But instead of doing that Valve decided to just remove all adult games from the German store and they can no longer be bought here.
If more countries would complain like Japan in your example, maybe Valve would actually get off their butt and do something.

Let's not have that.

It would be best if less countries required invasive measures to use the Internet.

well you're not supposed to even have a steam account if you're under 13... so that's basically the equivalent of a PG-13 rating in movies in which context nudity isn't prohibited...

this is the classic "cover up the titties at the strip club in case kids come in" BS.

Actually, it's not allowed as an under 13 to *create* an account. It's supported by Valve that parents create the account with their kid and enable Family View on it.

This game I have played cannot be comparable to mainstream Japanese visual novel garbage games. You can call almost every point & click game "visual novel" But this is not something actually used for.
And yet it is. Gasop. Could it be that a genre as old and established as the VIsual Novel might have spawned several subgenres that have evolved over the decades? Naaaah. That's crazy talk.

Heck I'd count the HBS Shadowrun games as VN's because dear god I've played VN's where I did less reading.

Seriously OP. Just turn on your filters and get on with your life. and if you don't like porn. Maybe turn the porn filters back on.

then it's done with the parents consent... parents can choose to let their kids watch movies rated over their age too... that's not the contents fault, it's been rated appropriately.

edit: also that doesn't necessarily negate the age restriction when creating an account, but rather suggests parents involve themselves with their 13+ childs account creation to restrict access to things like porn that are on the platform... tho it isn't exactly clear

u can hide ur inventory or if u care that much u can ask a support member to remove it they can remove items/games if u ask em

I don't think Steam support would delete an inventory item.
ive had em remove a inv item before

They bypass filters. You can find lots of not filtered erotic content. Valve is kind of a parent. Parents bring their kids here and Valve should care them.
Provide examples then.
summer memories is the 3rd game in the vn area in popular games section and from the screenshots its full blown porn and not listed as adult only

edit also hush hush has a 18+ dlc and is in popular games area

Perhaps their suppressed desires are making them see things in a different light? :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

The 13 year limit is purely because of COPPA and data collection, nothing else. It's why all these services with account creation have that 13 year limit. Kids under 13 are allowed to use Steam, just as they're allowed to use other services.

I seem to remember there being an age limit on steam since I created my account long before all that COPPA stuff.

It's in a grey area, like a lot of these they release a censored version on Steam to avoid having to label it as adult, then release a patch elsewhere to remove the censorship.

Being sold on Steam is the "all ages" version of the game that has all nudity and sex scenes removed.
It can be patched to include those things again with a file available outside of Steam.
But thats not Steam´s problem. Just as its not their problem if someone mods their Skyrim or Sims game into a porno game.
For the law it only counts what is being sold and in the form being sold on Steam that game is not pornographic nor even sexual since that content was removed and is not available on Steam.

So basically every visual novel by japan=bad while western visual novel*=good

*as long as OP plays it

1.) They are Visual Novels, basically a Dating Sim.
2.) The Stamps are of faces only that I see in the Store Page.
3.)I don't like them, they aren't Games, there is no challenge held.

So my Question here is? Do you know for sure they are erotic Games at all?
