Steam games Micro stutter every 10 seconds
Playing games on steam like plague tale innocence and resident evil 7 has micro stuttter about every 10 seconds. I can't play longer with problem like that. There are no problems with other games with different luncher like cyber punk ray tracing on and red dead 2 are all butter smooth. So I really think steam has problem in my case. What I observed was playing games on steam won't pop up notification that nvidia gpu is being use, but playing plague tale it uses both rtx 4070 and intel uhd where intel uhd hitting a ove 90 percent, it is wierd. While in resident evil totally Don't use intel uhd. I tried setting steam games to only use rtx 4070 in graphics setting but still the same. I don't know what to do. Please help.

If you are using Wallpaper Engine perhaps pause that and see if you still have the issue.

It's not running and already uninstalled sometimes ago. Still problem occurs. Also If I can remember it correctly I didn't change any settings in steam. Last time I remember beside steam update from time to time was problem occurred around when I install gta iv. There some setting promting to do that I can't remember to run it. But I untall gta IV now and problem still persist.

I had a visible stutter in the start menu of Warlock: Master of the Arcane of all things. Disabling the Steam Overlay addressed it -- something in the updated UI / overlay maybe.

I've had similar with certain games before on laptops.

Prime culprits typically may be the hard drive you're installing to - try other ones if you can. Or look at Task Manager and REALLY look at the processes you're running at the same time.

You might see what's holding up things.

There is a small outside chance that a common issue in Windows 10 (or maybe later) is causing issues. I've had it and my daughter's had it. It's basically where drive usage hits 100% for no apparent reason.

So keep an eye on Task Manager while things are running to see what's happening. Report back.

Also, silly point, but make sure you're not downloading or updating any Steam games at the same time.

I already used different ssd. Already look at task manager and it seems no problem. I always stop all the updates and download when running games. Right now I am downloading some games. My plan as of now is I want to finished all this download, move games to other ssd and reinstall steam. Hope it works. Otherwise I will reinstall windows.

Been having the same issue since the client "update". I'm even having the issue on smaller games like Brotato for chrissakes :steamsad: Tbh, I'm only expecting it to get worse, not better.

I reinstalled steam and it works fine at first. But not for long. I am not sure if steamworks has something to do with the problem

As life long Nvidia customer i used to get that on my GTX1060.. I was so tired of bad Nvidia drivers i decided to switch it up and bought a rx 580.. That stutter in gaming and steam almost disappeared over night. I've recently bought a Rx6700xt and still its smooth..

I have zero facts to back it up but i personally believe Nvidia cheapen out on their on board ram which imo cause things like stutter and such.

Ive had suspicions for years that most of the nvidia issues are to do with their memory. They had issues with one manufacturer if i remember rightly. They said it only effected certain cards but I think the issue was much wider. My 1080 was not supposed to be effected but it had the same onboard ram as those that were effcted. Ive used both Nvidia and amd over the years and have always had amd be much more smooth in game. Yes their drivers have had issues in the past but i have had much more stutter issues especially when things load on nvidia. ive had all the 80 versions of most nvidia cards.

I'm more likely to suspect PCI-Express bus congestion. Most CPUs only dedicate 8 lanes to the GPU, the other 8 lanes are shared with the NVMe SSD, and other PCI-Express devices (Wi-Fi?, Bluetooth?).

I will report that NVIDIA intentionally cheapened out on their board VRAM with the GTX 970. There was a lawsuit.

I remember old ATI they were horrific cards but the latest stuff, at least in my experiences so far have been pretty good driver wise. At least compared to Nvidia.. Now bare in mind i've only used these AMD in the last three years or so.

Usually though the top pcie for gpu uses 16 lanes and the top 1m.2 is using another 4 lanes. Both are through the cpu

The bottom 2.m2 slot usually then go from the chipset and not the cpu. So unless you have other cards in the second pcie there isnt going to be congestion especially on most modern boards and cpus.

I do feel its the quality of memory on these graphics cards that could be a big issue with stability and the gpu storing data efficiently
