What Does This Tell You About Steam?
I checked out GOG recently, & here is what I found.

GOG Galaxy 2.0 is only a few MB to install, & installing 2 Games,
I was able to get GOG & 2 Games running at under 1 GB.

GOG Galaxy is low resource, so it does not take up much space,
& with low RAM use, you really feel the Freedom of your RAM being lifted.

Now, I come back to Steam, & this is what I get?
-- Going back to old Steam using -VGUI, cause can't open Chat.
-- Steam blocks the -VGUI command now.
-- This Sale is a joke.
-- Web Helper Performance Issues.
-- Error Code -10.
-- Valve Modderators need to do a better Job.
-- Why Stop Windows 7 Support?

This is all on the 1st Page of Steam Forums.

You don't have anythig like this in GOG Forums on the 1st Page.
GOG Galaxy seems to do well on Windows 7, lone enough Win 10 & Win 11.

What does this tell you about Steam?
Valve clearly is doing this on purpose, & deliberately making
Steam problematic for people. There has been GUI Changes
in Steam before with the Green Client going to the all Grey Client,
& you did not have such a horrible mess like you do with this so
called New Client Steam is using now.

Valve clearly is deliberately doing this to their Customers.
-- Why defend a platform that clearly keeps getting worst?
-- Especially when there are platforms out there clearly not doing so bad.

Aren't you just spending money, being wasteful here?
Hoping that Steam gets better, meanwhile other people
are having a lot more fun on other platforms?

What does this tell you about Steam?

I'm not trying to sway anyone to do anything,
i'm just basing my info on Facts. Look at the 1st
Page of Steam for yourself? You make the judgement call.

GOG might not have enough Games to compete with Steam,
but they do have Games, & these Games do run fantastically on GOG,
& from my understanding you can even run these Games Offline, too.

Meanwhile Steam is a giant Question Mark, if it'll even get any better? ~_~
-- People put way too much faith in Steam.
-- Steam is not like it's always been before, Valve clearly has changed.
-- Have you changed, too?

Then there is the Question about EPIC Games, I haven't been on
there in a while. Last I checked they were doing fairly well for a Platform.

Oh boy, seems that almost everyone already forgot about that :HEALTHFUL:
Not forgotten, CP2077 is the exception, not the rule
Considering theuir small liibrary of Releases. Witchers, 1, 2, 3 Thronebreaker, Gwent, and CP2077. Yeah 3 good, 2 bad to mediocre, and ione a disaster at launch. Worse the developers had to have know it was a disaster. That's the part that's damning and the factv that it was their most recent release.. it could be the same trend of decline we witnessed in other developers.

Evidently, money is not a priority for them. They could profit a lot more by bending their knee and selling various popular games.
And that's where you and I disagree.
You believe on GOG's goodwill to not 'want more profit' and remain as they are, sticking to their guns.

I consider GOG as a company and as such their goal is growth.

Only one of us is going to be annoyed if they're proven wrong in the future. As I keep saying, beware of humanizing corporations. They can be good, but they're not obligued to be so.

And now get this: Steam is banning games with AI
Because right now it's a copyright minefield and they don't want to be tangled into all of that.

GOG Galaxy does not work for me on Windows 11 OS at all.
Crashes shortly after login.

Steam works fine, both on Windows 11 as well as 10.. :(

Odd. GOG works fine on Windows 11 here. All I can think is that you don't have a prerequisite API installed, but the installer should really sort that out automatically.

Winget package manifests sometimes include dependencies, so it's possible installing it via Windows terminal will fix the problem.

winget install GOG.Galaxy

On the other hand, it may not. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not to mention considering they laid off a 1/4 of their workforce, admitted their business model wasn't working, and have been making adjustments clearly they care about the money. They already publically admitted their previous strategies weren't working.

They specifically stated financial losses and their financial standing as the reason for their actions, so it appears they do indeed care about money.

GOG is the ghetto of gaming world. It is a place for people who have low standards :papyrus:

They literally have a few major releases.

Not really. They get many of the big release games other platforms get.. but.. thats the issue. They aren't getting anything that the other platforms don't have.

Galaxy 2.0 is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ though. Their old client is fine, but not that new bugfest.

Because the people there don't want them.:WH3_greasus_rofl:

In fact, various people don't even install Galaxy.
exactly....all I want is my library and my friends list. All this social media and bling BS STEAM has is garbage I don't care about or want.

I installed Galaxy so I can have all my games on a single launcher
Yeah but the thing is, Steam ain't designed FOR YOU.

it's designed for the whole globe, so that's why they involve all that stuff. If you don't want to use those things, then don't use them. You don't have to because I don't.
