As much as you annoy me at times. I sure think it would suck if you buy a lemon.

Well you see, that's the cunundrum. The PC i have now, is NOT a lemon. It works. Yet, i now have to shop for a new PC, and have to HOPE, it plays the games i have.

I have to HOPE, my mods (the rationale why i play many of those games here, rather than ps2) are even still in the mod hub.

I have to HOPE, for many things, i should not have to hope for.

I have to HOPE, the bill for such goods, directed to Mr Newell, does not get lost in the mail.

HOPE, can be very tough at times, particularly when you're being gouged.

Hope is not enough. Research and self honesty is far better.

Consider this - I've made this point many times.

I buy hundreds of games every year. Have done since the start of gaming. Back in the 1980s you had magazines, possibly a friend who might own a game, or box art and that was it.

It was difficult to judge whether any game was worth buying.

Nowadays there's no bloody excuse with the resources available to us.

Being disabled I buy almost everything online. Do you want to guess what the last time I bought anything, from cars, household goods, clothes, tools, games, musical equipment and it was not EXACTLY what I expected?

Well over twenty years.

Not a single thing have I bought that I truly didn't know EXACTLY what I was getting. And similarly not a single thing have I got buyer's remorse about.

So if I can do it, then anyone can.

It is a lemon in the sense that it is ancient. 4 gigs of RAM? That might have been the standard 20 years ago, but 16 is the standard now.

You're also kidding yourself if you think that they are going to pay for that computer lol

Pi’s have their uses.

My Linux box is built from an old SFF Dell 3040. New CPU, SSD, and a low profile GPU.

My old box was ♥♥♥♥♥♥ but a bit of the same idea.

GT 1030

I mostly used it to retrogame and it was at least strong enough to play Call of the Wild. :)

Had a lot of fun with that box.

I built this one mostly to test proton.

Well, that's a good point, in that whatever the makeup of that micro pc is, it cannot be worse then what i have now, a seemingly 20 year old computer.

Keep in mind, you are talking to a man, that thinks RAM and CPU, are the same.

A man, that does not know what a "notebook" is.

A man, that plays on this PC, games at 800x 600, at maybe 20 frames at times, and does not mind, one bit.

A man, who has a wife (and a tough one), who will have me change my name to "Lone Ranger", when she finds out i spent 500 dollars on a new PC, to rid one that works perfectly fine, as the bills pile up.

That man, just may be made, for that micro PC.

The fact that you don't know whether or not the parts are soldered to the motherboard is a huge red flag and something that you should absolutely know for certain before purchasing, not after.

If you think that playing at 800x600 at 20 frames per second, is an okay thing to do. Then ....

It may be better than that laptop you have, but not by much. The cons outweigh the pros.
