After updating to Win11, all games minimize upon launch

Hi Ya'll,

Simply as the title says. Ever since upgrading to Windows 11 my steam games all minimize upon launching them? Has anyone come across this before?

Try googling 'windows 11 games minimizing'. Got a large number of results.

First one: System > Display > uncheck 'Minimize windows when a monitor is disconnected
Second one: System > Screen: Change scale to 100%
Third one: Disable Synaptics Smart Audio HD in Device Manager
Fourth one: Disable Windows Game Mode

No idea if any will help you, but best of luck.

disabling "fullscreen optimization in program compatibility" dont work too

It maybe something to do with the "Animate windows when minimising and maximising" setting in performance settings > visual effects.

I threw some magic beans on your issue.
When they fell on the floor the beans clearly said -- "Need more info!" :)
Then I tried to see what the coffee says, it said the same thing! :-D

So, is this a laptop or desktop PC?
What CPU? What GPU?
How much & what type of RAM?
What storage?
(What is the main storage drive, what 2nd/3rd ones, if any?)
What keyboard & mouse?
Might be some obscure keyboard/mouse fault, or keyboard/mouse software issue too! (If a laptop, and no external keyboard is used, skip this)

What is your Windows 11 OS edition - Home, Pro, Enterprise/etc?

is a laptop with windows 11 home updated, intel cpu, nvidia rtx gpu, playing with gamepad steam input activated, all windows visual effect are disabled, happen with same games only

What gamepad? If you remove gamepad, does issue stay?

What is your exact laptop brand & model?

If only some games have this, yet other games work fine, have you tried contacting the tech support of 2-3 of those games that exhibit the issue?

If you re-enable all Windows visuals effects, does issue stay?

I don't know enough about Win11 to be 100% sure... But I still have one question which might be pertinent: if you hit both the windows button and tab at the same time, do you have more than one desktop open already?

@nakibest i'm playing with ps4 dualshock, i have contacted the game support but no answer

@Eagle_of_fire my win11 is configured with two desktops accesible with win+tab combination

the bug is really strange, it's happen only after some minutes of play, after maximization the game window again the game work and the bug dont repeat

In this case, are you sure the game is not opening on the wrong desktop at launch?

Which version of windows 11 do you have? If you have windows 11 24h2, then i suggest going back to version 23h2 if you can. The latest version is a buggy mess, and can cause all kind of issues with games and sound, and maybe the issue you were experiencing. Even microsoft knows about these issues.

now i have 24h2 but i had the problem with 23h2 too
