Russia is under sanctions It's illegal for ANY American company to do business....
Russia is under economic sanctions and it's illegal for ANY American to do business with Russian nationals.

If you feel that this policy has been violated by Steam, report them(Steam) to the FBI.

They are subject to the sanctions law just like every body else.

You folks better go read the Magnitsky act...... and don't claim you weren't warned.

I believe it's a little more complex than that. There are specific Russian industries under sanction and individuals. There's also the problem of the Russian banking system no longer operating on the SWIFT network. I mean I could be wrong but I haven't heard of a blanket nation wide sanction.

What I wonder about is what is your agenda with this thread? Just curious. Are you posting this against steam or because you really believe that the policy should be equal to all?

Also, is it based on actual sources that show steam doing business with Russia or again just a general statement about how the policy should apply to everyone? I'm just wondering.

You might want to recheck the economical sanctions before you spread misinformation, OP.

The topic of the forum is....

Steam Discussions.

Pretty sure that the topic says it all.

There is no misinformation posted, you must work with the treasury department to get an exemption.

Do some reading before you falsely accuse someone else of posting misinformation.

Yes? But if you bothered to read the reply, I am asking what is your stance and purpose with this. Sometimes people post this kind of things because they hope for a backlash...

If your purpose is to be informative then I guess it's not wrong but according to Crazy Tiger, your information doesn't seem to be correct anyway. Not sure this is useful, then...

Pretty certain that the original posting, clearly states my position.

Foreign enemies should not be allowed access to American assets. PERIOD.

What you deem useful is a variable opinion...

Not your call, the US has already applied the sanctions to Steam and Steam has followed up with them, unless the US demands more Steam is not required to do more.

That's actually not quite true.

And at the risk of going political: "convenient" isn't it that several parts have been carefully excluded from those sanctions? The Druhzba pipeline for example. Rumor has it that even the US are still involved with this one, all under the radar of course.

In the end... politics have no place on Steam, and for good reasons. Al it leads to is ignorance, deceit and other despicable things.

You don't know that....
JamesF0790 Feb 22, 2023 @ 5:57am
Which block of sanctions are you talking about? Because the ones I can see aren't a global nation wide sanction.
i thought it was funny that steam stats show this....

Russia

Total Bytes: 54.4 PB
Average Download Rate: 46.9 Mbps
Percentage of global Steam Traffic: 4.6%

https://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/

Until yesterday i did think Steam was sanctioning already....

From what I can see the only sanctions that apply to Valve in this case are ones involving Russian banks. and the ones regarding business with certain individuals or entities.
