Steam moderator bias?

For those who got banned from specific forums do you ever feel like there's a bias behind it? Half my bans wasn't me breaking the rules. I think they just skim through your post/ban history and decide from there, not the actual rule breaking. I've seen some moderators will make a baseless assumption. I see the word "troll" way too much.

Anyways, in b4 someone says, "lol you deserve the ban" not here to discuss why and what I got banned for, just the process on how Steam moderators ban people.

Edit: I'll break my promise above. Got wrongfully banned in the Factorio forums. Was able to overturn it because I didn't break any rules. Proof: https://imgur.com/a/0OKds2K

Ouch. Interesting how an opinion can just lead to a ban. Disruptive behavior itself is not exactly in the rules or guidelines. At least it isn't until you start insulting people and causing drama. I heard Killah was ruthless when it came to bans. I guess this does prove it...

Opinions don't get you banned, breaking the rules does. I'm about 99% sure I didn't hand out the ban as well, we generally didn't ban people for posting in response to our own posts. Not to mention in 2020 it was mostly only paid moderators working and judging by my response (if it was me, a few trolls notoriously impersonated me) I was just curious what the person meant - so doesn't make sense I would ban them. If anything, people came to me when they wanted to have a second look at their ban and I was notorious for not banning people when I probably should have.

I'm 50/50 on it, but as others pointed out - there is obviously a lot of context missing. Continuing down an offtopic path after being warned could be interpreted in the wrong way by someone not familiar with the rules we used to enforce.

There is only 1 person that I know from Steam that I would consider a friend, so I can squash that for you easily. The answer is no. I kept 'friends' limited at best to not affect my objectivity. Besides, most people just want a thing from you when you're in such a position, it's annoying at best.

This was how I started having trouble outside of STEAM. 2 years ago you will probably remember the moderator who posted a list of users they didn't like on Reddit encouraging their friends to harass them on here.

There are 3 problem mods that have been reported to steam support for years but nothing gets done. The most prolific has 4 letters on the profile name.

Honestly i'm done with STEAM, it's not a safe platform. It's always the older profiles they go after and never the sock accounts causing the problem. Once you have a problem moderator on your case then you're screwed on STEAM no mater what you do.

First of all, we're aren't in your kindergarden anymore. This is Steam's general forum and so it means that your fantasies might draw more attention from the mods than it will in the FF14 forum. Mayhaps if you took 5 mins to consider what kind of people get "ganged"...

All threads who supposedly got ganged (or factually speaking, got called out for their ridiculous purpose), were horrible threads complaining like karens about things that just don't seem to fit what they want in a game that doesn't seem made for them. So you know.

If you have contradictions to make light on, go ahead. But this is also a game that plays with two people. I can easily point out toxic posts in your history and we'd just "show to the public" the truth about everything. You cannot delete posts in a locked thread, btw.

The forums weren't made to dispute nor needs you to "call out" anyone. I asked STEAM support specifically about this and was told this was not allowed under "privacy" rules.

The evidence is out there if you browser search words such as Steam, Moderator, Stalking etc - they haven't managed to delete all of the locked conversations yet. You will notice that whenever anyone does name the perpetrators they have a permanent ban just for talking about it.

Interesting. o.o With the way I was reading your post, what sprung in my mind was "Wait, was this image forged then?" Because we never know on the internet, right? But yes, I wasn't lying either. It seems there was lot of reputation made for or against certain mods...

It's been a long time and yeah, without the actual context, it's probably hard to get what is up with this ban in particular. At least you've come to give your own version of things so it helps to see things a little clearly. I find weird a tame post like this would just get a ban...

Thats not truth, i had bans where me and opposing side basicly did same but only i got banned there is strong bias and unjust bans being handed out among steam moderators and i say that as someone who admits that some of my bans ceirtainly were in place.

And this is what they call 'can't do right, can't do wrong'. Apparently I'm now buddies with someone because I'm playing a game on Steam and checking my notification?

I literally have no idea who that person is[/b, but I guess it's no point talking evidence to someone who already has made their mind up and decided his conspiracy is the only truth out there. It only makes one of us look ridiculous, and it ain't me.
So over and out, this would be a waste of my time. Sorry for trying to be helpful.
