Hopefully, this will be fixed soon as I see it's not affecting everyone, I see people on my friend's list that are online and playing games, as with random people.
This is probably an issue introduced to Steam because of the Chinese New Year's sale (and maybe event), if so this could take hours to figure out and get fixed.
I had to restart the Steam client, because before that I could not start playing DotA, now after the restart there is an endless login to the account. Even after restarting my PC
I can log into the store and community on browser just fine, but the client is on strike. Steam has permission with my firewall since the first installation and I even switched to a different router but no dice. And of course first thing I checked was if maybe steam is down, which it was not. So I guess I'll stick around this thread in the hopes something happens. :(
EDIT
My sister, same household, same internet, can login and play on steam just fine btw. I just don't know what to try anymore. My account has had no notifications of any bans or anything and since I just logged in successfully to reply to here I do reckon it's solely a client issue, but alas. Rip any of my daily tasks in games I guess.
I'm almost a bit worried about all my (albeit successful) login attempts in a short time getting me false flagged.
The problem, apparently, has only affected those who use a mobile authenticator, because logging in with a code from the mail works perfectly.
You could be on to something about the games count. Most profiles posting in this thread have around 2k+ or even 10k+ games. My sis had maybe like 6 but is able to use my library as per family sharing.
Fingers crossed they sort it out. I was gonna spend the time after work relaxing but here I was fussing and stressing instead @_@
I have tried using the code from the authenticator too. I was considering a password reset even. Rough. But perhaps another piece to the puzzle if the mobile users are affected.
Also use 2FA with the App.
See the logo go in circles like the user above.
Hope they fix that quick, or give a workaround...
