how to get in contact with steam support?
I had someone texting me on discord today. telling me that i needed to get in hold of the support. as this person apparently had reported my account for theft.. which would lead to a BAN...

she told me that i had to add one of the steam supporters on DISCORD an reach out to him there. but as far as i can see valve/steam doesnt have a discord server. an the ones i could find doesnt have a user with that name she provided to me..

Ticket nr: HT-5VCR-7XMP-KDBN

case nr : 15869

PS.. my account is NOT stolen or never had any reports or anything like that.. which that ticket clearly says i have..

but please help me get in contact with valve/steam support!

PSS: im guessing its just a scam or someone trying to take over my account. would mean alot for me to get this solved or if someone can confirm there is no problem with my account...

#SUPPORT!

Kind Regards

Exact same thing happened to me. On discord with the same ticket number and everything. Thank goodness for this forum to exist others I wouldn't have dodged that bullet (I've never been scammed before btw)
Good thing you did search on this, sadly those that fall for it only learn after coming to the forums, or get information from others that understand about this to explain it to them. Discord shouldn't have allowed text masking as this could've help a bit because people not reading, even with pop up, they sometime ignore that for some reason.

Stop using Discord. It is full of scammers, and there are already many scammers on steam. If you cannot figure out it was a scam, this is a wakeup call to stop using Discord.

Scam basically all over the internet, emails, DMs, social medias, and more.

We had youtubers / twitch streamers scamming people without realizing they were paid to promote scam site, and some of them were in on the scam. Also ad scam ads paid for space on google in the past, youtube, twitch, and more. You can even look up Twitter that promoted scam ad, and Millions of dollars were stolen tricking people into buying crypto years ago.

We had people spamming from discord, raidcall, skype, you name it as long they can message you directly.

Yep, but if OP cannot distinguish a scam from a legit thing, they should not be using many sites. The less sites people are on, the less likely they are to be scammed more. This is just math. The more places people put their digital information out there, the more likely they will have a scam that works on them. I am saying since OP is not very good distinguishing between reality and scams, they should avoid using Discord.

Correct, but as i said, the less sites OP goes on, the better, since i do not believe their Cyber Security level is as high as us dr. Shadowds. I believe the less sites they visit will be in their best interest.
OP is a TTV streamer. They are definitely going to run into more people trying to scam them.

In theory this should actually make them be more aware of scams, but i have a feeling they are still lacking some cyber security knowledge. So i think OP in their best interest should stop using discord. After all, the best way to avoid as scam is to not even use the place/sites the scammers are using.

You would assume that would be the case but the vast majority of small streamers invite everyone to their Discord not thinking about who they invite.

The OP is old enough to know better (I looked at his channel where he put in a lot of information in his about section) but that's how life works.

They invite everyone because they want to get more viewers to make more money. That is why they do it, but yea the downside they also invite scammers, botters, and many bad people.

While the idea is sound, the real world practice is different, humans are funny like that how we live, and learn. We learn to use fire, and we learn to make wheels, the difficulty is those that unknown of it wouldn't understand, or know until they learn about it, and in this case either asking for help, searching for results, or learning from experience, a repeat cycle we live in.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
