Not everyone wants a MASSIVE video that takes up nearly the entire screen. What's the point of having a huge video if you don't end up watching it? If you end up watching it, then obviously you're gonna click full screen??? It's fine the way it is, all the information on the game, description, details, etc are easy to find. These other websites who have a massive video are also the same sites who make it incredibly hard to find any info. Also, Steam is across devices.. therefore that's why it's nearly the same on everything which in turn makes it easier to use.
And I do know about the full screen feature. That's awesome, 10/10.
My point is that for normal users none of these 2 options are great as a default...
Full screen works fine, but most of the time you don't wanna block everything and just watch a video, been able to move around and have other windows open while checking the previews are better.
Regarding the small content, Steam knows it is small: On the image type content you can click on it and make it bigger, so they know...
I do agree with you on the comparison to other websites, a lot of people do this wrong, there are many websites that it is only video and zero info. I got your point, and I'm not asking steam to make it like that, but I trust Steam Eng team and I'm sure they could make something better.
Please don't let the fear of change block you prom seeing improvements.
But maybe you are right: "Not everyone wants a MASSIVE video that takes up nearly the entire screen." Well... youtube had a solution to this ages ago, i think is called theatre mode, is a button that you click and make the video bigger. Maybe we can have both...
