writing review
am I the only one that gets annoyed by these "I love this game but im writing a bad review" reviews?
If you really like a game you cant write a bad review, write a good one and put the stuff in you dont like about it.

There can be a lot of reasons why game is good but you are unable to give good review like lack of content. It's a different story if they do not explain why they give negative review.

Usually those reviews have the reason for it to be a non-recommendation written in it. Either it has an incredible niche appeal and the reviewer knows that or there is one overlooming issue. Or they are just triggered by some studio politics.

And example would be EDF: Insect Armageddon for me.
I like it on its own. But I love grinding games and know that I'm far off the norm. But I could never recommend the game to people who are looking for some quick third-person action nor to fans of EDF because the developer managed to place the game right in-between those target groups. So despite my by then 100+ hours and the enjoyment I got out of it, I'll write a non-recommendation.

This. It is posible to see no flaws in the game but still not be able to recommend it based on simply not liking it. The same works in reverse. Games that are incredibly niche work with this problem.

It is the Reviewers way of acknowledging that the game has rather unique appeals or problems that will not affect most people.

I have a game that I used to really enjoy. In fact, the game is still enjoyable. It has great gameplay, and is quite fun.
However... it has an item store. One day I logged in after a patch. The cost of a lot of things in the game was increased to 10 times what it was before. Drops were reduced. This was done to get people to pay real money to get stuff, when they had just been playing a lot to get what they wanted.

Not recommended. Despite the fact that I love the game itself.

Maybe they didn't like a certain aspect about the game. Those reviews are still better than the blank or rtarded one liner positive reviews.

We all hate Games that we love

I've noticed this too. It's the writer trying to pass off a sophistication about the subtleties they've noticed in the game that only their deep experience can give us. It's a mild form click-bait as it's meant to make their review rise to the top.

You end with you love the game itself, but you've segregated out the things you don't like (which are now part of the game). In essence, you love a game that isn't available anymore.
