Spring Sale 2019
Is there going to be a Spring Sale this year? I have only been hearing about the Summer Sale but not the Spring Sale.

Steam missed the boat on this one. Most other stores have already had, or are currently having their spring sales: GOG, Humble Bundle, Epic Store etc. I think Steam has been unsettled by the Epic Store shenanigans and not thinking straight.

Valve doesn't hold their Spring event until late May, if they do one again. Other sites already knew this.

And since the Summer sale date leaked already, I highly doubt a Spring event will happen.

Steam had a lot of publisher and themed sales lately. And the summer sale is just around the corner.
There is such a thing as too many sales. We have autumn sale, winter sale and lunar new year in short succession. If there is a sale every other month, they stop to be special and people only have so much money and time to spend on games. So you see diminishing returns from each new sale.

Why else would you miss a spring sale while a market disruptor is stealing customers under your nose?

Steam has never had a store-wide Spring sale that I can recall. All the other sites having their sales before Steam has been going on for years also. That's nothing new.

There have already been plenty of Spring Sales on official third-party key reseller sites for Steam, including Fanatical and Green Man Gaming. So, at this point, I'm not too bothered if Steam itself doesn't have one. I've already picked up a few good bargains.
Same here actually. I waited patiently until about end-April, but it is now almost three months since the last store-wide sale (think it was the Lunar Sale). It just "feels" too long, especially given the disrupted market and Steam's apparent lack of action (probably a smart move given Epic's clumsiness, who knows?). But I've been knocking off a few games on my wishlist by going to 3rd party resellers of cheap CD keys, something which I haven't done in a long time and even peeked at the Epic mega sale. This is not the time to skip a sale and Steam's complacency might cost it a few sales, if not a few customers...

Valve have never concerned themselves with the 'competition'. Typically they are usually the last to run the summer sale and the winter sale plus any spring sale they offer is usually late May.

No matter what, any game you see on Steam can be bought cheaper from another source elsewhere at any given time anyway. Also Epic's store shenanigans of putting games on sale without permission where the products had to be removed altogether just proves how out of depth Epic are in this domain.
Agree about Epic, it is a mess and I'm not buying anything there. Happy to wait for their exclusives to come to Steam. I typically wait about two years for AAA games anyway and then get them at huge discount. The one exception is Anthem, my son and I got free trials and we liked it so much, we both bought it and having a blast. (Really don't see what all the negativity is about - it is a superb game.)

Anyway, end-May for Steam Spring sale feels out of place, too long since Feb Lunar Sale and too close to June Summer sale. But anyway, let's see IF it happens. And yes, I've discovered that those cheap keys are really cheap and happen sporadically. But I only discovered that after getting frustrated with the long wait for a potential Steam Spring sale. Would not have "wandered" if the sale happened mid/end-April...

There are sales on Steam any day. I've picked up a few games in the past weeks. I'd even say there is no need for a Spring sale.

Just because other stores are doing it, doesn't mean you have to join them.

Store wide sales only happen in the summer and winter. All others are no where close in size.

I for one am saving my gaming dollars for the summer sale.

I generally rack up around then.

recently, I have picked up a few games I had on a wishlist for pennies on the dollar at Humble, and so forth.

Most of the time, I am a 'delayed gratification gamer'... I seldom buy a game new on release.
Wait a year and get it way cheaper, patched, and bug free most of the time.
