Valve doesn't hold their Spring event until late May, if they do one again. Other sites already knew this.
And since the Summer sale date leaked already, I highly doubt a Spring event will happen.
Steam had a lot of publisher and themed sales lately. And the summer sale is just around the corner.
There is such a thing as too many sales. We have autumn sale, winter sale and lunar new year in short succession. If there is a sale every other month, they stop to be special and people only have so much money and time to spend on games. So you see diminishing returns from each new sale.
Steam has never had a store-wide Spring sale that I can recall. All the other sites having their sales before Steam has been going on for years also. That's nothing new.
No matter what, any game you see on Steam can be bought cheaper from another source elsewhere at any given time anyway. Also Epic's store shenanigans of putting games on sale without permission where the products had to be removed altogether just proves how out of depth Epic are in this domain.
Anyway, end-May for Steam Spring sale feels out of place, too long since Feb Lunar Sale and too close to June Summer sale. But anyway, let's see IF it happens. And yes, I've discovered that those cheap keys are really cheap and happen sporadically. But I only discovered that after getting frustrated with the long wait for a potential Steam Spring sale. Would not have "wandered" if the sale happened mid/end-April...
Just because other stores are doing it, doesn't mean you have to join them.
Store wide sales only happen in the summer and winter. All others are no where close in size.
I generally rack up around then.
recently, I have picked up a few games I had on a wishlist for pennies on the dollar at Humble, and so forth.
Most of the time, I am a 'delayed gratification gamer'... I seldom buy a game new on release.
Wait a year and get it way cheaper, patched, and bug free most of the time.
