To me EGS is just a means to an end. So is Steam. So is Arc, Glyph, Battle.net, and WildTangent. Some are more feature rich than others, but my goal is to play games I find enjoyable for an affordable cost. There are no "good guys" out there in the corporate gaming industry. All of them have one common goal. To make money. If people want to focus on irrational hatred of one or more, that's all on them.
So I say, just get SR5 on Epic and enjoy the heck out of playing the game. After all, it's better than going outside, because there are risks to walking out of your front door, so you probably should avoid doing that. Although there are risks to playing games as well, so we might want to rethink that too. Perhaps it's better that we do nothing at all except eat and drink ... oh, but bad things can happen doing that as well. Oh My Goodness, we're all just doomed!
I deal with Origin, Uplay, GOG, Steam, and they're all leaps and bounds ahead of Epic IMSHO.
But people can buy Epic all they want, not my money, not my problem.
I suppose steam could start throwing around "can't take no as an answer" money but we both know that ain't gonna happen so the vampire that is Deep Silver sill take the best deal.
I can wait a year or more for games.
Steam has grown at a massive rate years on year since it's inception. No advertising to speak of, and no marketing money to throw around much.
So it would make zero sense to start now.
The people like EGS are doing this as a loss leader for the purpose of trying to gather up a user base to grow from. The thing is, I've said this a million times on here, loss leaders are BIG trouble. Mostly because they only work under very specific consitions. They're not long term and can also destroy other companies on their way.
Here in Britain certain supermarkets notoriously engaged in a batlle of loss leaders back in the 1990s, and it killed suppliers en masse.
There's one guy who owns a well known criap (chip) brand now, Tyrell's. Tesco destroyed his company this way and he vouched once he got back up and running again he would never seel to tTesco ever again.
that post was from the devs, saying 2023. someone asked when it would be on steam and they ansewred "2023"
i am not logged in with my linux at the moment, or i would link it, but this computer does not go to those sites.
I can wait. I have them on Steam and GOG.

awesome, thank you
I wish!
It's how I buy every game. Wait until after release.
Then you can mitigate all issues, like "swill they squeeze in microtransactions?", or "are there any major bugs and exploits?"
