i have a game that i could not get passed the first half hour, it was soooooo boring. i will not slog through another just to reach an arbitrary limit.
a filter for time played would be nice, if it does not exist already
I went and checked and seems there is a filter now, I never noticed it before. And I can 100% agree, but so many reviews are just utterly useless and serve no purpose. Like your review.
game is boring, not happy yadda yadda yadda less than an hour played, held for review, mod sees it, approves. But I set the filter to 1 hour to remove the spam.
Take some points for informing me. ty
Maybe we've survived in gaming somehow, for decades, without needing to micromanage user reviews. So what's the fuss today? Spider-man? We'll all survive Spider-man's release. Not to mention the game is already years old, we already know everything about the game.
Moderators aren't going to waste significant time 'clearing' reviews for publication and this would also cause censorship concerns.
No, the fuss is about games in general, I just used a current game as a reference. I was not aware that they added a slider to adjust game time played.
Just when I look at reviews to see what people say and the next 50 reviews are
its gud
buy sony
give us god war
or for the cat game last month
has cat
no need to neuter etc ect
I am looking for reviews that state how it runs, I think reviews more along the lines of an actual review, not some place to post random asii art as a way to farm reactions. But I mean hey, I am older, so maybe this is how people review things today.
Ans spiderman is a year old? Was it an epic exclusive? I have legit never watched a single youtube video on the game. I never watched a video on Elden Ring or Outriders, loved both.
Watched a review for Days gone, seen way too many spoilers, but got it and it was good. I more or less look to see if reviews point out any issues that would make me hold off or instantly want to buy. That is all.
Users have always been like this, getting older and becoming cranky towards constant antics is something I can empathize with. But in that case it's you who's changed, not everyone else.
Years, plural. It's a four year old PS4 game.
Yes, the specifics of how good the PC port runs is important sure. But reviews aren't confined to that detail. And outside of that, we (gamers) know a lot about a very popular game on a very popular console. There's plenty of information about the gameplay, content, etc.
Ok Kurt Russel, you got me there. I like the round about way you called me a grumpy old man, have some points :)
However in terms of the actual topic while some ways to view less memey reviews would be nice, putting them under review of a moderator would be pretty much infeasible due to the high amount of them.
While I agree those are the most useful, you might want to manage your expectations better. They're user reviews, after all, and lots of users aren't prolific writers nor are they interested in it. And on Steam I'd say the most important factor is the thumbs up/down one gives, not the additional text.
Personally, I don't care too much about it since I try and research game reception before buying from people who aren't mentally stunted on other websites, but that obviously doesn't help the Steam Reviews here. The best thing you can do is give positive ratings to well-formatted and helpful reviews instead.
It's nice to know of such issues before buying it if customers have similar hardware or software.
Yep, happens occasionally to me. In fact, happened several times to me when playing maneater. I posted that in my review and how a possible workaround for it is. If it happens more than 5 times in a game, i usually give it a negative review:
