True meaning of the "Jester"
We somewhat accepted the "Jester" award as a way to mark trolls, baits or reviews written by people failing to cope with game mechanics. But what is the actual meaning of this award?

Seriously, I only use it for trolling and it seems like most other users do the same. Take a look at the suggestions forum for example. People get a jester, they complain about it asking for a feature to reject or remove single awards and as a result they get another jester.
Although it's quite funny, I don't think this was intended, so what was the true meaning of a "Jester" award?

Any ideas?

Jester is an entertainer - award it to posts that are entertaining / funny in a joking sense.

to jest means to joke

The meaning is whatever you see in it or whatever the community sees in it.

General community meaning given to it about 3 seconds after it was introduced on Steam is simply 'clown post' 'extra chromosome post' 'troll thread' yada yada or just to annoy someone

There's also a ♥♥♥♥ award that goes well in par with it

:happiestmask: “True meaning” as though such a thing exists.

:amphibianhat: Valve did give you a helpful blurb; surely you’ve read it?

If we take in consideration the animation of the Jester, that is pure sarcasm.

An important part of any royal court.
We have the 2022 version, a :clown: not a Jester.

This is a Jester.

There's also a phrase in the UK "your jesting right?" > your joking right?. Meant in a clown sense.

I kind of think that Valve knew what they were doing when they made this award. Even based on is description. They just didn't wanna full on say, "Clown award."

Probably conceived up by the same guy who thought having a salty emote in the default set was good idea.

Steam doesn't have a downvote button so people use the jester for that but it really depends on the context

Which is really silly once you think about it since you're essentially giving them something in return to say they're behaving like a clown.

It's like someone donating money to a streamer to call them trash. Lol

The jester seems to have good company between the guy wandering fields and the mentally challenged women.

The jester means you are special.
