Beware the fake reviews!
I have been seeing a certain type of review recently. Very highly rated with lots of awards, which isn't bad, but I keep seeing these reviews posted almost word for word by different accounts.

It generally goes along the lines of " I am a 40 year old dad... got this game for my son and I around Christmas... We play it all the time together now... It has really helped our relationship. "

I honestly love this review as it is a truly heartwarming tale. Unfortunately I cannot believe that so many steam users are forty year old fathers that have sons with former daddy issues that were solved by video games.

Go to your favorite steam game's reviews, chances are that you'll see one like this. Remember the wording, how it sounded, and the basic plot of the review. I bet a fiver that you'll see one just like it on another of your steam game's reviews. Not always the same wording, but always the same format, frame, and basic plot.

I may come off as a jerk for writing this. Trying to ruin peoples fun and being a loyalist as the kids say, but I am sincere in my wish that people know about this so they do not get tricked, back stabbed, or quite possibly, bamboozled.

My comrades, beware!

Obviously.. common sense. Most reviews are useless crap. Unfunny jokes / memes, copy pastes, ascii art etc.

We know
It's your average copy pasta review, just report it. There is no better way to deal with them as a normal steam user.
They are almost as annoying as those "one word reviews" that get mysteriously high amounts of likes and awards. For example on the game "Stray" there are reviews like this:

CAT
50+ people found this review to be helpful
4 high tier steam awards

They are not even trying to fool you. I think all this praise comes from their 250+ user long friend list. There's no other explaination. Lol

People will see a high rated review on a game, they copy the review and paste it on a different game, EZ steam point farm.

Just like how some people literally make a Steam living posting as much toxic / annoying / troll threads / posts to bait tons of people into awarding jokers, and they use those points to deck out their Steam profile. Trolling and toxic behavior is literally financially beneficial.

Beware those who abuse their position and rely on fanboys to praise their disaster. It's becoming common place now, so I wouldn't rely on the forums either.

We have the points and award system responsible for this, IMO. it was the worst move Steam/Valve ever made introducing them. That is just me.

I think they'd be fine if the whole points system didn't exist, or at least it was separate from the Awards. So instead of awards you'd just "react" with Jesters or what have you, which don't give you anything other than a symbol on your comment.

You'll never be able to get rid of all fake reviews. It just isn't possible.

Just scroll past it and read the other reviews. There are plenty to pick from.
i am 58 years old ♥♥♥♥ sapiens male with an offspring and this game cured my sons testicular cancer upvotes to the left awards to the right
interesting... cant they make a program that checks
for exact copies and give out warning similar to account
name checkers when you start accounts.. try again.. try again..

Just report these reviews - Support knows they’re fake. Just be sure to point out the first line in the report so they don’t miss it.

Use the tools Steam gave you.

"I bonded with my child with this game"
"This game is fun, with friends"

Meaningless reviews that say nothing about the game. You can get the same outcome in a discord call with no game whatsoever

I am not sure I think the
"Post on the Steam Fourms" for the commuinity badge is wrost it was removed but still effects us all

The points give points at least
And its not like we did not have spam reviews before it come by
And if found to do damage can be removed without much side effects

And the same applies to Steam curators.
