I have steam setup to open directly to my library. Occasionally I pop over to activity to see what's going on. And when I want to check on a game I heard about or might be thumbing over i use my library to get there. I click on one of my games, then click go to store page, then use the search function to research the game i am interested in. No discovery needed.
Don't follow these links at work:

Some games have patches that might make them into that, but how you'd get them from Steam would not contain such content.
Op needs to learn it's based on what his view / purchase history is thus we know what kind of stuff he likes to look at.
For example, I'm an RTS/TBS, RPG and Roguelike junkie. So, initially a lot of my Discovery Queue contained games that had relevent Tags or were actually marketed as such. Then, about 6 months ago "Disgaea PC" was in my Queue. Its gameplay looked a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics; a game I love, so I bought it.
Because Disgaea is an "anime" game I started seeing other "anime" games pop into my Queue, mostly other Disgaea games. However an "Agarest War" game made it's way in there, again gameplay seemed similar and it was on sale ... so I bought that too. I hadn't paid enough attention to realize Agarest also featured a "Dating/Child bearing" mechanic; I thought it was different and actually liked the idea I'd play as my Offspring which inherented its Parent's Stats/Skills.
Unfortunately because Agarest has many Tags such as "Dating Sim" and "Nudity" it caused my Queue to get more "Anime" games but now they are more VNs and Dating Sims than they are TBS and RPGs. Simply doing "Not Interested" helps clean up my Queue but everytime there's a new one it usually finds it's way into my Queue. At least I no longer see CoD games or random FPSes.
TLDR:
Just click "Not Interested" in games you aren't interested in, Duh! Also it's kinda scary buying 2 "anime" RPGs/RTSes can cause such a dynamic shift in your Queue lol. It's like 1/4 games in my Queue are some "anime" game. Though some seemed a solid suggestion; like Tales of Zestria.
when you click such game to click "not interested" steam says: "oh, we have more like this for you". then you click to click "not interested" again, and steam says: "oh, we have more like this for you"...
i feel like i'm turning into pornography addict. -_-
On the main page "Explore Your Queue" -> "Customize your queue" button.
Or "Customize" link above "Next in Queue" button.
Got to catch them all. Please steam let us view our "not interested" list, I wanna take a screenshot full of this junk xD
http://store.steampowered.com/app/495480/ <-- I might buy this just to release a parody on these expensive fap games. Ofcourse it will be like 15 bucks for a weekend of work.
i did this, i have 12 tags in there, and no "nudity" or "visual novel" among them.
apparently, even if you clicky "not interested", visited store pages count as if you were interested.
i'm telling you, it's sadomasochism. :/
This filter works differently. If you add some tag then you will not see games with this tag. It works for me.
