How to remove the "remember me" as default.
On login, there is a checkbox "Remember me". It is always checked, even if I un-checked it last time.

Is there a way to disable it, make it remember that it was unchecked, or somehow add a security option so it is not checked each time that steam is started?

I am afraid that one day I'll accidentally miss it, and then my account and password will be saved to the computer (which i DO NOT WANT to keep my account secure!!!) or that I won't be able to have it "unremember" me (I've searched online, but cannot find any instructions on how to do that).

Any suggestions?

You can have it 'unremember you' by logging out of Steam manually. Clicking on your profile icon in the top right of the client and then choose the 'Log out of account' option.

Other than that, you can - for now at least - shove the new login interface onto the garbage pile of misfired features where it belongs, with a commandline flag:

steam.exe -noreactlogin

Thanks for the temporary solution. Would be nice if we could, I dunno, give feedback to Valve but they are not really keen on that and obviously support is even less likely to allow you to do as such. Hell, I had to login to steam on my browser because I couldn't find this discussion by searching steam discussions... their own search that only has to handle their own forums cannot find it.
And of course we still cannot change the URL manually... or can we? Ah hell, so many weird quirks that would be so easy to fix.

And it is still better than Origin, Epic or Blizzard's client. At this point that is not a huge achievement though.
This new update feels like still should be in beta testing.

You can, under Settings > Account, untick saving account credentials.

Unfortunately all that does is not auto-enter your username, it still leaves the "Remember Me" box checked.

Also, FWIW, on my system, the checkbox in Settings > Account is labeled "Don't save credentials on this computer" which means you want to CHECK it... but as I said, that only gets it to forget your username, which isn't as useful.

Hmm... I wonder what happens if you check both boxes? Will it "Remember Me" if I also checked "Don't save credentials"? I wonder which one has priority? Or maybe it'll create a digital black hole and wipe my hard drive...
