Steam removed a game from my library?
So I wanted to play Condemned: Criminal Origins the other day and I was sure that I had the game, that I bought it a couple of years ago. Upon searching for it in my library I was suprised to see that I didn't own it. In fact I learned that the game was banned from my country (Germany). So I got a key for it online and activated it, not thinking too much of it. Now today I looked at the game in my library and it says that I've already played it for 78 minutes and that the last time I started it was the 25th of July 2016. Which should be impossible since I apparently didn't own the game up until the 9th of September (3 days ago). How is this possible? Did Steam remove it for some reason? I have two pictures added, one being the total playtime and last played from my library and the other one from the activation page under account settings where it shows that I activated it a couple of days ago.

I'm starting to think Valve are having another problem with their databases that track purchases/activations. As I have this game, Condemned Criminal Origins, know exactly when I purchased it, too, and it isn't to be found in either purchases or activations but IS in my account. I'll also add, that like OP, this game isn't available directly on Steam in Japan, either.

This would not be the first time Valve have lost this information. They lost a bunch of data for between 2004 and 2007 a fair few years back, too.

Am from Germany as well.
There is no law that allows someone to take what you bought.

What was lost previous to 2007? 3rd party activations didn't start 'till 2007 afaik. Lost Planet was one of, if not the first triple A non Valve game to require steam for eg. That was mid 2007.

looks like it had a free weekend in 2016 according to a quick google search, can't confirm what weekend though

That was actually a good idea, I didn't think about steam tracking free weekends as playtime, sadly though the 25th was a monday. I think it has something to do with MakeWarNotLove since the game is banned in Germany.

Even if the game is banned, you should keep owning it in most cases, it's rare for a game to be removed from the library (except in case of online-only games where the servers where shut down, and even then not always)
Is it possible you had it on your account before?

It is possible to active some games twise, if something is not the same with them, and if you got basically a German copy and later a ROW copy it may both be activated
Not sure why it will not show how ever

The weekend thing sounds very likely
Playtime counts on there for sure, and may be part of it, possible you may have started it on Monday in your area and not in Steam or it was delay and give a little over the weekend to play is possible

Free weekends end 10AM PST on Monday.

10AM in PST would be 7PM Monday for you.

Everything. It's why any purchases during that period are now listed as "complimentary" instead of what they actually were.

You're right, they used to show up as USD instead of pound sterling for that period, now complimentary. There wasn't much on steam back then tbh though, still, interesting.
