Far cry 5 only using 2.92 gb vram

Hey guys, so I have two graphics card, intel and gtx 1060 on my laptop. I use gtx 1060 for gaming and I have 16 gb of ram. When I check my NVIDIA GeForce gtx 1060 details, it shows that I have 10109 mb of total memory, 2987 mb of Display memory and 7122 mb of shared memory. When I play far cry 5, in the video settings, it shows that there is only 2.92 gb of vram available. I was wondering if I can increase that and if yes, how do I do that ?

Only by buying a new video card with more vram. You have a 3GB version of the 1060.

ur dxdiag is very wrong on vram. it says an 860 has 6gb vram too.

also laptop versions of the GTX 1060 have less pixel and vertex shading units


vs a desktop version and they are clocked at a lower rate vs a desktop card and yes use slower ram (depnding on maker of your laptop and amount of dedicated ram )

\cuz they have to down clock the GPU to produce less heat in a laptop ..vs a desktop card .. as to ram use .. 3 gig is about correct for your GPU

also check if YOU HAVE THE HD texture pak installed .. without it ... even my 6 gig desktop GTX 1060 only used about 3 gig of V ram
