What is the best space sim in terms of graphics and playability?
I'm really wanting to find an immersive game in this genre but I'm not sure how they all compare.

Here's specifically what I want:
1. Good, fairly realistic graphics
2. The ability to go into a true cockpit view (where I can see parts of the inside of the cockpit as well as what's in front of me)
and 3. Something I can play with a controller

What would be some good titles I can look into?

I think I may be able to help

1. NoMans Sky
2. Starfield (game promised to come out in 2023)
3. Dyson Sphere Program (i think this one is what you are looking for)
4. Kerbal Space Program
5. Elite Dangerous
6. Outer Wilds

Cheers

Thank you! Although Dyson Sphere Program doesn't look anything close to what I'm looking for, lol.

Yes yes, I get that the "Suggestions" forum isn't for suggestions. I appreciate the help I got from 25% of you, we can end this thread anytime now.

Probably Star Citizen, it has the best graphics and cockpit view. Its a bit of a meme that its not finished or playable and doesn't really exist..but...you can actually play it lol.

If want a singleplayer experience without pvp/ganking, probably elite dangerous (though it has multiplayer that can have pvp in it). Though I dunno how thats doing these days. I forgot if it had cockpit view or not though, I thought it did.

there is this reddit post with a bunch of suggestions, infinity battlescape looks great for example

I though it was the joke that its entirely still in Pre-Alpha and has been for nearly 10ish years now along side that the fact that every ship has to be bought with real world money and the actual good ones are over 100$ each alongside with the developer, Chris Roberts being rather known for never finishing any prior games including ones such as Freelancer which was released at only 33% completion

Note: I'm not saying Star Citizen is bad, hell I love Chris Roberts games, but the man is notorious for never finishing anything he starts, which in a strange way somehow works out for him in the end because while Freelancer was never finished: https://the-starport.net/ Has by far one of the most unfinished-game modding communities for a space game I've seen.

SWAT and Discoverygc are by far the largest Freelancer communities ever made out of his Freelancer game, so I will grant how odd his work is.

So for the OP, EVE Online has a semi-cockpit side while inside a ship and 3rd person and if I recall, has controller support.

... suggestions for the client/steam.

So is everyone in agreement that Star Citizen has the best graphics and cockpit view? What are some others? I'm really trying to find the absolute best in terms of this and controller support.
