I'm having a super weird issue with logging into Steam anywhere but the PC client.

I don't know how I managed to forget my password for a moment but I got it wrong too many times on the mobile app. After I got the "too many failed attempts" and logged out and back into my PC client with the correct password. After that brainfart I figured I'd wait a few hours and try to log into the mobile app again. Instead it told me "too many failed attempts" again. So I waited twenty-four hours and tried again. Still "too many failed attempts".

This time I tried to sign into my account on Chrome and got "Something went wrong while attempting to sign you in." Some searching around told me to try reinstalling my web browser. Instead I installed Firefox so it would be completely fresh and free of any add-ons. I got the exact same issue on Firefox as well. I know I have the correct password this time as I have signed into my account repeatedly on the Steam client and I still get my Steam Auth code from my phone even though I can't sign into the app. This tells me something with my account is locked and a little bit broken.

Does anyone have any advice for this? Some folks on these forums are reporting the same problems from up to a couple years back but they don't seem to have any answers. I would like to contact Valve directly as this could be a serious issue but I can't find any contact information online.

edit: Immediately after posting this I had the idea to disconnect my phone from my home network and try logging in again. This time it worked through mobile data.

It would seem the solution is to try logging in again from another network. As SilverLining suggested below, the easiest solution for PC is to set up a mobile hotspot and connect through that, then just change back to your home network while still logged in.

If none of that works just waiting out this unknown time limit (I'm assuming 14 days) seems to work just fine. Just don't mess up the password this time.

happened to me a few months ago, had to use a vpn for like 2-3 months cuz steam didnt let me log in with my regular network

I'm also having the same problem, I had to use a VPN to change my ip to the US, neither my phone network or home network were letting me login, a vpn address in the Netherlands was having the same issue. It could also be an ISP issue, Apex Legends was having issues with Vodafone the other day, could be that as well...

Same happened to me mate. It's been already 3 days and I still can't login in my steam accounts through BOTH Chrome and Microsoft Edge accounts. I contacted the Steam Support and I will see what they will tell me. Glad I am not the only one.

Pretty sure Steam is having issues right now. Tried to make a purchase and instead of receiving a receipt steam linked me directly back to their main site and the purchase just failed. Having login issues as well.

You need to change the password because he interfere to you login in the steam on PC. Click forgot your password on PC client and follow to instruction (indicate email or phone number) etc. Then you can change your password and after this you can sign in without any problem

Follow this topic - https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamMobileApp and if you have android device you need to wait about couple hours for invite to update ur client to beta test

Don't forget to change your PC client to Beta access

Guys. I found a fix to not being able to login through web browsers (at least it worked for me). Try to go to a web browser that you don't normally use in daily basis like Microsoft Edge or install a new fresh web browser like Opera or Mozilla Firefox (assuming you are using Chrome in daily basis), check some youtube videos on how to clear cookies in that web browser, you will have more options on what to clear there along with cookies like history, passwords etc, clear ALL of it. From that point your web browser should be completely fresh and clean and you should be able to login in your Steam accounts again!

I tried to log into my account by using another internet connection(another wifi) and it worked. U can connect ur PC to ur mobile's hotspot, that was what I did and it solved the problem. Hope it helps.

Sorry I made this thread and then never responded. This seems to be the single best and fastest fix for this issue. You could also wait but the amount of time you have to wait doesn't seem to be known. I chose to be lazy and wait it out but I didn't check very often. It seemed to be about two weeks before I could successfully log in via my PC web browser. Not at all worth the wait so just go ahead and try what SilverLining suggested.
