Subnautica has no expansions and is a single player game.
There is a stand alone "expansion" (more of a seperate game on the same planet) in the works called Subnautica: Below Zero, but still no multiplayer.
-----
Moved to the Subnautica forum.
You might be mistaking the mod for an expansion. There is a third party mod which does allow multiplayer, allthough i have heard its quite unstable.

With benevolence, I request for you to stop bumping threads such as these. Since I purchased this game in 2014, these threads have never ceased to exist and it's frustrating to see another one, especially if it's toxic.
This is also targeted towards other individuals as well. Let threads such as these fade away into the mist. Much obliged.
ummmmm what?.........the mod works
and there was no "Bump" just a reply to someones comment
NO it doesnt remove all the fish from the game and NO it doesnt remove all the mushrooms from the game(if you cant see anything, reconnect, also explore around you first, stuff has to load in).
In multiplayer, seemingly you start in the same place every time, (even if you have the mod to randomly drop somewhere), in multiplayer the starting area seems to be the same, always. It seems as if SOME mushrooms don't load sometimes, but they are out there not far away. I put several hours into playing this mod with somebody and about 95% of the time we were in complete sync, dropping items for eachother, sharing lockers and loot, watching each other get chased by giant monsters, all in sync and working nearly perfect for us.
Sometimes when you are in the game, to get everything to load right(if for some reason it doesnt) you just have to leave the game then come back, but other than that, just communicate and you will have a great time.
The person hosting the server has all the saved data for the game. When you get the mod, you have to launch the server from the SubServer Folder, thats the host server, so everyone playing connects to that persons computer, that server. You can hit "save game" when you are connect to somebody else's server, but all that does is make a copy of your character on that server, and save it to your computer, so every time you hit "save game" it makes a new save file on your pc. The host will have the save data.
When you make a character and connect, you will have to choose a color, and input character name. You cant change this name, even though you can type in something else every time you connect, The save game for that player, is name based, so if you change the name when you connect, its like changing profiles. So keep the name the same and you will keep all your stuff every time you connect. There are small bugs but nothing that is that bad or game breaking. Small glitches again, just leave and reconnect to server. Everything else should be an incredible experience.
