Steam Remote Play Non-Steam games?
I wanna try emulators with my friends but I can't figure out a way of doing this correctly :/
I have tried:
1-RemotePlayWhatever (doesn't pick up their controllers, only did once out of the 30 attempts and don't know what caused it)
2.-Parsec can't run on my PC due to my GPU not having video encoder (6500 XT)
3.-Used a .bat file then turned it into a .exe and replaced it with one of my games that have Remote Play Together

A few months ago I was able to just replace the content of a game with the Non Steam one and use it just fine, but it seems a recent update made that impossible to do now
Does anyone have any alternatives or ideas on how I can make it possible?

Well, unless the emulators are on Steam you're not likely to get much advice here as touching anywhere close to piracy or emulation is frankly a bit taboo to say the least.

To be frank you are better served going to forums for whatever emulators you want to use. Many have inbuilt online functionality anyway, so you can choose those.
If there non steam games, and you want to play them together with your friend. I presume online. Then why put something else in between which is not necessary. I don't see any logic in this, and i think neither does valve and steam.

Not online, I wanna host the games since my friends don't have the pc's to play them

Doesn't work, cause of build in security against fraud. To prevent that 1 player, can host a game only he bought on steam, which others would be able to play to without owning the game. Sorry can't help you, also don't know how.

I appreciate the reply but that was an answer I already knew, it's the reason I made the post..

Get this game https://store.steampowered.com/app/1853840/Polygunners/
* no need to install, you just need it registered to your account.

Create steam_appid.txt file with text
1853840
inside root folder of emulators exe that you added to steam.

Just send invite, you don't need RemotePlayWhatever or parsec or even RemotePlayDetached.

Wow, this worked perfectly on some games though on Dolphin the only issue is that my friends can't see the other windows like controller settings so mapping their keys is lowkey not possible
Thanks for the help :)
I was going crazy

I'm not sure if this has been patched in some form or if I'm just doing something wrong, but this is not working for me at all.

Isn’t it easier to just use Retro Arch now? It’s on Steam, it’s free and supports netplay.

Edit: Or Moonlight for general non-Steam games for now, and then Sunshine when it’s discontinued.

I was looking for something that let you play something like cemu, and it looks like cemu is not supported by retroarch so that's a nogo. Not sure about moonlight/sunshine, but I think I'll just wait until we move in together and just do stuff irl instead.
