Only Microsoft can put the xbox game pass on Steam.
Just like EA did with EAPlay.
edit:
Like your said in your other thread. Please, don't spread misinformation.
I get to keep those games, forever. They are not rentals.
"Steam PAss - why?"
Until that question is answered, you can't get to when.
Because MS Game Pass is extremely attractive and popular. And the prospect of other stores offering something similar isn't wholly unreasonable.
Well that was an easy one...
That would be (if anything) a "Valve Pass"
So to answer the question: not anytime soon.
I would agree, not any time soon. And it's not like the door is for game subscriptions is only open for the rest of this year or anything. And if the rise of video streaming services can be used as example, there's more than enough time and opportunity for Valve to change course when and if it seems like subscription services are the way to go.
I think they're the future. But people will still want to buy games too.
And honestly as is, if I am playing a game on GamePass and it goes off subscription and I was going to buy it to finish it. I almost certainly would buy it from Steam over MS for the time being. GamePass is great, but I don't love the MS Game Store.
I think it's hard for people to really grasp how big the gaming pie is too sometimes. Which sometimes leads people to believe every new player, new service, or evolution in the industry is a dire threat Valve has to respond to.
