No doubt that's a nice advice, but it sounds like I'll have to go without any answer at all as I'm searching for a common solution. I'm aware that Steam added support for PS5's DualSense (and it's customizable to some extent) in 2021, I've heard you can experience its features in some games on PC already, however I'd like to know if it's generally possible to use an Xbox gamepad and a DualSense controller together while playing split-screen/fighthing games. Sure, user experience may vary, though I don't wanna get a thing with extremely limited functionality -- at the end of the day, I pay my money for it. Unfortunately, I've got a feeling that game-specific forums won't help me in this case since this issue is more common and specific at the same time, dealing with certain main and minor features of the controllers in question.
Thanks so much for your advice, though. Maybe I'll contact Steam Support.
If yes, then you surely can use 2 different gamepads at once. Worst case, the game got no native PS support so you'll use Steam to map your PS gamepad to XInput. Best case, it got native gamepad support and you'll get the best of whatever gamepad(s) you're using.
There is the tiny possibility that the game got native PS gamepad support but doesn't deal with different gamepads at once. I consider this extremely unlikely (that would be some weapons-grade ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥), but that is something so game-specific, you have to ask on the game forum. Not Steam support, game forum! You know Valve didn't make Mortal Kombat, right? So don't expect Steam support to answer questions about its gamepad support.
Alright, it all makes sense, and your point is indisputably reasonable, but you should also get what I’m gonna get in this thread — I wonder if it’s possible at all on Steam, with respect to technical capabilities provided by the service in general. Sure, it all depends when it comes to PC gaming, however it’s definitely not silly to ask about the issue in this section as Steam always offers some alternatives in terms of software/hardware support. It could have easily been a question about — I don’t know — a Logitech/Genius gamepad and an Xbox controller, and it would make no difference. Just wanna get solid answers from people who had this exact experience (“Yep, it’s possible to use two different controllers at once on Steam via X, but this option varies from Y to Z”), but it seems that I won’t get any.
A concern of a customer, who must be ready for any troubles and inconvenience coming from his unawareness of some undocumented features of the service, is pretty fair and sensible. There’s no way I’m gonna argue about what you’ve said previously — obviously, I’m sure Steam Support won’t help me (99%), though you always think about some last resort when it turns out there’s no simple answer, and you never wanna waste your money.
P.S. >does the game support local multiplayer in the first place?
That isn’t the issue I’m talking about, only a halfwit can’t find out if he or she can play a game locally, the same goes for sarcastic remarks concerning Steam Support, Valve, and Mortal Kombat. I’ve explained my point above, though.
Thanks for your reply. If it’s really that simple to use two different gamepads at once (nevertheless, I still don’t know if you had similar experience), I’d be especially glad to test this feature as soon as possible.
Your personal experience is the thing I’ve been expecting to hear from you in the first place, nice to hear. Got some more answers from Reddit — it seems to me that all this stuff should work fine. Gotta test ‘em soon.
Hello there!
They do work together flawlessly. For example, my wife and I played Tekken 7 some time ago, and there were no issues with using the both controllers.
