There has never been a way to ever set the notification to only show replies to your messages alone.
That's never been a thing.
You can only subscribe to the discussion.
It's an automatic thing to be subscribed to a topic you post in.
You have to manually turn off the Subscribe to Discussion checkbox.
no even when the box is unchecked I get notifications when friends post and the author posts
there needs to be a way to turn it off permanently and there isn't
this gets so annoying if you are active on the activity feed
One will still receive notifications if a friend posts, indeed.
It literally functions the way you claim it does not.
Strange, because i definitely used to get notifications whenever somone quoted any of my messages, maybe it was a bug i don't know.
If you post you automatically by default get subscribed to that thread. Any post at all in repsonse to that same thread will notify you. I've been on these and the prvious forums for about 10 years or so, and they've always worked like that.
Of course, sometimes you can misclick and accidentally the subscribe box when you post and it means that every post you make after that (until you notice your error) you won't subscribe to. That can be a pain in the arse.
