which site has the most accurate player/owner estimation for games?
So I'm looking at the owner data on Steamdb, which uses 3 method of calculations:
- by review
- playertracker
- Steamspy

For most games I searched, the estimation by steamspy and based on reviews are usually in the same/closer range, and playertracker tend to provide a much lower count.

Anyone know which one provides more accurate data? Even though playertracker is usually the odd one of the 3, its data tend to be a lot more precise so I feel like it could be the most accurate one.

Could go either way, honestly. Unless the developer/publisher announces the number of copies sold, I'd take any estimate of player counts with a large bag of salt.

Steamcharts is another decent one. They all basically use the same calls to get the information though.

Steamchart only seems to have "current" and "active" players, not total number of owners of the game.

None as they can't track everyone. Best they can hope to do is estimate based on users with open profiles as they have to scrape the information by scanning steam profiles.

Since games details were defaulted private a couple years ago, the information hasn't been remotely close to what they could see on public profiles. And public profiles back them were still not the whole of the community.

I see, thanks.
Too bad publisher don't tend to do that for most games, and even when they do, it's only total sales across all platforms rather than just Steam and only "above" a certain number as opposed to exact figure.
