Steam overlay Lagging in all games - Win11

Steam overlay Lagging in all games - Win11

I just got a new machine.

Intel Core i9-12900KF
ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3090 O24G
Patriot Viper STEEL 2x16GB 3200Mhz RAM

It came with Windows 11 preinstalled, but for some reason despite this being a fresh install no matter what game I play if I bring up the Steam overlay it has massive lag, I can press something in the chat there and it will take a few seconds for it to appear.

I can't find any help, google has entirely failed me, so far the only suggestion is to clear caches and disable the overlay, which is not very helpful at all and doesn't resolve my issue.

Is there anyone out there who has a solution?

I've seen the very occasional post about this recently . Sadly I'm not on W11 so I can't tell you but it does seem to have affected others.

Try re-installing Win11 and then Steam, and it might be fixed. Otherwise go back to Win10 until Win11 is stable.

I found the issue, appearntly Bullguard has something called "Gaming optimisation" build into it which is auto enabled, it limits the use of other software around the game and the overlay it sees as a thing to limit. So dumb, so turning that off solved it.

Ah yes, optimization software is usally somwething to chcuk as they rarely do as effective a job as they're supposed to.

Same here to open my profile, access my contacts or view a profile of someone in my lobby it takes a decades, sometimes the overlay won't go away and I have to wait for it to debug out.
