diablo like games with a few necessities.
ok, I know of and own most of the big diablo like games, however its been a while since i played one and cant remember the details for each one.

Im looking to go into one and play a character up, but I don't really feel like playing a game that encourages/requires trading, one of the things I didnt like about diablo 1/2 was rare item drops, as in the uniques that were the best you could get and rare/magic would not get an rngesus blessed roll and be better, had drop chances of 1 in a billion to one in 10 trillion (I beleive there is a bow with that drop chance, there was an article around the time where 1 in a trillion was to large a drop rate and there were 10 in game so they upped the drop rate to 10 trillion)

I want to, with in reason, be solo self farm and not feel like im getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on drops.

Titan Quest gives you quite a lot of opportunities to build your build, so to speak. There's no shortage of great stuff (except at the beginning, but that's par for the course for ARPGs), the challenge lies more in deciding what to go with, than it is to grind/trade.

Last Epoch.

Grim Dawn with GrimInternals but you need to turn off cloud saving in game properties in Steam and use a local save when setting up a character.

Torchlight 2 with Synergies mod from the workshop. There are also additional mods which link directly with Synergies. Note: you can only have 6 or 7 mods active.

I enjoyed Grim Dawn nice areas to travel and battle in... plenty of seek and find missions

I liked Van Helsing. I also like DOS2 (if you enjoy having team mates) I wasn't super into POE, the talent tree makes it look like you could do anything, but a lot of builds just fall flat.

Agree Dungeon siege 1 and 2 were fun, 3 got repetitive. Path of Exile is fun, but character building gets "grindey" pretty soon, but it is free to play.

not only that, you have to spend an absolute ♥♥♥♥ load to get 5/6 link items unless you work in the honestly horrible trade system, from my understanding poe2 is going to fix this aspect of the game, and I have been holding off diving back in till then.

That is NOTHING like Diablo (1 and 2 anyway. Haven't played 3).

True. Tower of Time is only similar in the story mood. I remember more of the story than the gameplay. The gameplay in TowerofTime is pretty dry and more like POE. It did not float my boat either. I wish Diablo had more copycats, Van Helsing was the closest.

Yeah, I stopped playing midway and gave it a thumb down, so I definitely don't have a high opinion of it...

Victor Vran

The Adventures of Van Helsing series (these may be the most appropriate for you as the loot there is varied but irrelevant to how you progress, so you shouldn't get shafted at all).

Grim Dawn.

Torchlight I and II as well (maybe even III).

if playing D2 dont install the expansion LoD until after gearing up. LoD really made set items the thing and made just magic items tack a backseat, so charms could have more impact. I like beating all the acts up to nightmare then installing the expansion and moving forward.

So, what about Borderlands or Hellgate? You didn't specify that the RPG couldnt be in first person mode - they both are (Hellgate can be played in 3rd person, if you wish). I love both of these series for the Diablo-esqe item system and leveling.

Anyone know if

is actually as much fun as it looks?
