It's called bad service from huge company which doesn't care about it's customers. And I'm talking not only about serious difference in prices. A lot of Steam customers using this service for many years and for many years all the prices were in $. We are used to buy, sell, trade items, skins, games in $. Not only on Steam, but in the whole internet. When I'm going to buy something on Ebay, AliExpress, Asos, HumbleBundle, IndieGala and many other services, I'm using $ as a currency. And even if some service detecting me as an israeli user and showing me prices in shekels - it still provides me an option to change it to $. That's what's called good service!
And changing something so much huge after years, after your customers are used to what it was before without giving them an option to change it, completely ignoring petitions, threads on your own forum - is called UGLY service!
I stopped to purchase any games on Steam not only because prices for Israel are higher than for usa... but because I'm not used to purchase anything in internet in shekels. I really can't be OK with this after many years of using $ as an only one currency for my web-shopping. Why should I use calculator or convetrer for prices? Why should I each time when I'm interested in some product, check it's price via converter in $ and check was it converted by developer in proper way or not?! And Steam is forcing me to do so! This is SUPER not cool and SUPER not user-friendly. I believe that I'm not alone with my feelings about this ugly update. And just because of that all my $ are going not to Steam, but to other companies such as HumbleBundle, IndieGala, Fanatical and many others.
p.s. Sorry about my english.
p.p.s. Know what's their response to this problem - editing my Profile Name... facepalm.
I agree with you in every word!!!
When the issue is addressed ;)
And Blind Dog, it's definitely ugly service. Compare it with Spotify, who recently opened their service to Israelis with a great monthly price for premium (which I assume is an introduction price, but that's still a hundred times better than taking 33% more than the rest of the world.)
And besides, that is not completely the same if you talking about Canda
I may be wrong on the matter
But fix me if I am wrong, Canada has free health care, and fewer taxes overall?
And one can overall see it here:
https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Canada&country2=United+States
The result is that USA pays more on rent and stuff, so the cost of living there is higher, meaning that overall they likely need to pay more to live than in Canda so the prices for games can be higher
On the other hand in Israel as much as I can see the cost of living in Israel is close or higher in Israel then USA, that means prices for others things are suppose to be less seeing as you also earn than in the average and in minimal than in the USA
That is what I find so far, but your welcome to fix me on anything I got wrong
So I say that its possible that Canada may be ok with paying that 80$ for a good reason when Israel is not going to find it been fair or logical to pay more
But its yet under research sadly no publisher that set prices outside of the Valve recommended price, agree to say what is there price research that result in the higher or lower price
I'm sure they feel very "soar-E" aboot it.
But on the outher hand I turn to Capcom about there mad pricing of games in Israel with the next message:
This was sent at March 12
Got a reply now at April 24:
Not sure if anything will come of it, but at least got a reply, and someone may get a notice about it, so hopefully they go on giving us Data on the pricing or fixing the current pricing
Money in Israel called: Shekels < NIS or ILS but never hear INS..
But thanks for your help :)
Hey, getting an answer is something. Let's hope we get a result. Capcom's a big company, and perhaps others would take notice.
I honestly never heard ILS before XD
Most of the time I say NIS, but some developer I talked about the price did not get what NIS is and told me later if I remember right he called it INS
So lost on what Valve put there, till I get into that area to see it my self
Do agree, even that I did connect by the support system to them, so it may be just a support reply, but it's better then the answer of the "Valve set prices" or some relevant reply to get rid of you that Disney give me a few times when trying to contact them on something
And ya, it's nice to see some reply, hopefully, some others reply sometime soon as well
Capcom was pretty important to me to get a reply from because they have some of the craziest prices like 25% prices higher

https://store.steampowered.com/app/493840/Marvel_vs_Capcom_Infinite/
And so on, really wish someone will just finally tell me what is going on with all that, why some do 18% less, and Valve does and recommends 5%-6% higher and then Capcom with there 25% higher that makes NIS the highest price worldwide on Steam for there games

What is the law here? where is the research from, this is really odd
This is an increase of 14.65%
This is an utter disgrace
It's like you are meming the Jewish shekels meme.

Cough cough 51.14 CAD dollars are equal to 39.67 US dollars.
