My definition of normal price differs here, dark souls 3 base game only sells for 84 USD. That is way too expensive for me
So what we can do I think is build a list, find what Pubs did it by what we assume is Valve recommended price that is around 5% increase or the like from what I hear around here, and who decide their own price, and from them what once really went overboard
Second, find as much info as possible on how someone is supposed to price things in Isreal, it is their job, but as it seems they either not interested in doing it, or just don't know how to do it, so if someone has maybe someone they know that can help with how to work that out, please do ask, showing some hard numbers can really help the case here
When we have some numbers and have some stats to show we can start moving on, adding to that spread the message around, let friends know, as some may not notice, and thinking everyone will notice is not a good idea, keep it been talked, we need to rise it to the daily talk around, we need these to be clear that is it's an issue, we do need to make sure that Pub and Devs see that there is huge amount of players not going to buy on their prices if they are not setting them right
Also as long as anyone post here, there is a public area for all of Steam, from Isreal and not from Isreal, if someone has an issue with that they can go post on a private area we cant block anyone from posting here (as long as they are not passing the rules and then get ban or deleted) but on any case you don't want to do that, if you get people outside of the country to talk about overpricing that can help, we want to make sure the Devs hear us right and fix it, and that will happen if they hear a clear voice, not a hundred voice shaoting each with there own thing, we need to unite under what we want, that I think is price that fits are contry
Most likely they take around the same amount, overall anyhow it's most likely around 30% that is pretty much the common take, but overall they do talk it over, Valve does as well so some may have gotten some better deals, so or so its as much as i know so far always under agreement that its not allowed to be talked about
I should not be paying more for Steam games just because I'm from Israel.
You have lost a long time customer today. I won't make any more purchases on the Steam store.
About a week ago, Steam introduced a change in currency for Israeli customers from USD to ILS. For people in living Israel, the prices that used to be consistent and fair, now have made a sharp rise in cost and inconsistency.
Notable examples would be:
GTA V -
http://store.steampowered.com/app/271590/Grand_Theft_Auto_V/
Originally 60$, now is ₪350 for Israeli customers, which is the equivalent of 99$.
Injustice 2 -
http://store.steampowered.com/app/627270/Injustice_2/
Originally 49.99$, now is ₪239 for Israeli customers, which is the equivalent of 67.99$.
This is absolutely an unfair, disgraceful, discriminating treatment to your customers. I SHOULD NOT be paying more for video games on the Steam store, just because I'm from Israel.
I have contacted Steam support and they have offered no solution, therefore today for the first time I'm leaving the Steam store and will not make any more purchases. Thank you for your service.
Greed is truly mankind's downfall. For any other Israeli customers, or others who were affected by change of Steam currency and other reasons, I recommend you to do the same.
If they don't want to, it's their loss, I'll simply buy my games from alternative storefronts.
Sure, it's the publisher's job to set the price of their games, but Steam is the one allowing them to do so in the first place, in addition even if the prices were identical to USD but in shekels, and kept constantly up to date with the latest conversion rates, I would still prefer the games to be displayed in USD seeing as I spent 10+ years discussing software and hardware prices exclusively in dollars, despite living in Israel it's difficult to gauge the value of shekels, it makes everything seem too expensive.
I understand it's Valve we're talking about, and they will likely never revert their decision, so all I can do is hope that no other Israeli spends even a single NIS buying directly from Steam, and instead opt in for alternative storefronts, Perhaps one day Valve will realize this decision has caused them to lose business.
That will set the message to other publishers who will eventually reduce the price tag like the ones who did.
When your 60$ games will one day start costing 99$, you will surely come here to complain. Put yourself in my position.
As a customer, this is none of my business. All I know is that now I need to pay a lot more for the same product, and that people who are paying for it in USD are getting much more reasonable prices. I have made many purchases in USD in the past, no reason why I shouldn't be able to do the same now. This is nothing but greediness, no matter how you look at it.
Thank you for your advice.
Edit: And buying keys from an unauthorized third party website is a very very bad idea
