That doesn't change anything about being a smart shopper though.
So by DEFAULT - as long as ILS currency remains, games in ILS will NEVER be the cheapest available. That's a fact proven by a site that keeps track of all deals for all games.
So yeah, if you don't mind paying more for your purchases then go ahead, I and many others certainly won't.
One day I've got access to almost the entire Steam catalog at a reasonable price, and the next day half of my wishlist is unavailable while the other half had a price hike of 8 to 40 precent.
To me this means that if I'll buy anything from Steam it'll only be during big sales and when the price drops significantly.
Mind your language. Critisizm is fine, as long as it is respectful. Your opinions are only as good as your ability to properly explain them.
Its more expensive although Valave support team said it'll only exchange to shekels with no extra costs.
Hope to see it addressed by Black Friday.
Prices should have been the same but just in shekels.
Right now I prefer to buy CD Keys.
Good point, but for all the wrong reasons. The fact that we're not alone in this is exactly why Steam should have thought this through more carefully. Every single person I've talked to on Steam and IRL who lives in Israel has been impacted by this. Every single person I've asked whether they will continue to purchase games off Steam has answered with a resounding "no". They wanted to force change upon the Israeli market without considering its customers, who already pay outrageously exorbitant prices for other goods and services? Well, what they got was a backlash which has reverberated across the entire community, and lost them an entire market sector. Yes, the Israeli market is tiny compared to the big fish like the US and Europe, but it's still there and until a few days ago, it had a thriving, if modest, community.
You see, unlike other goods and services which are sold in Israel at a premium, gamers here do have alternatives for purchasing their favorite PC games. That, coupled with the age-old Israeli/Jewish mentality of not wanting to be made a "freier/sucker", means that Steam really screwed the pooch on this one.
Tired of seeing foreigners posting here.
We're not like you people, we'll never be like you, or want to be like you.
When we get screwed over like this, that's how we react.
Go through the whole thread, a lot of people here totally lost their ♥♥♥♥ over this. One thing we cannot accept in Israel is being made suckers. And yes, we will be aggressive about it.
Vent as you wish, but stay respectful is a good way to not great a tread locked
Can you please not try to cut it to us and them? its really not relevant here, even more when Israel is not alone on the matter
Whenever a new system of such magnitude is put in place, there are bound to be problems. Our best chance to influence a change in the pricing scheme is now, when it's still fresh.
The developer who said that they (Valve) exchanged 1USD to 3.75ILS gave us valuable information - it's simply too much. Even with the exchange taxes, today it is 3.63ILS. Putting it at 3.6 or 3.65 would've been far better with consumers than the exaggarated 3.75.
It seems ridiculous that developers would have to manually insert different prices for all regions, considering the fluctuation of global currency, but that's another issue.
Furthermore, there is a serious issue with games that had their prices set based on Euros instead of Dollars, thus compounding the problem with prices that are significantly higher than before. A Euro is worth 118% of a dollar, so you're looking at an almost 20% increase in price for some products. Such a price is not competitive with other online stores.
We'd like to see those problems rectified, because in the end we'd all like to give Valve money. If a publisher (possibly by accident) puts up a huge price increase, and doesn't make any sales, then nobody wins.
What makes you think I'm a foreigner? I'm israeli, otherwise I wouldn't care how other israelis act on public forums. I've also been an active steam customer, and I'm just as upset as you are about this. I have previously posted in this thread, and sent serveral emails to steam support. I, also, don't intend to buy anything until this matter is resolved.
Venting and using foul language are not the same. Your words are better heard when you act politely. Rage like a gentleman. ;)
