BANNED FOR PROFILE PICTURE
Hello everyone. Few days ago I got banned for my profile picture. I had Celtic Cross on it. Same Cross you can find on Glock Oxid Blaze. Skin, made by those who banned me, can have Celtic Cross and I can't? Why did I got banned in the first place? Just looking for answers.

You might want to read the reason why you got banned, also read this to educate yourself:

It was made hate symbol by USA. Can you tell me why they have same symbol on Oxid Blaze skin for glock?

If you see a picture somewhere, it does not mean you can just use it on your profile, the use of hate symbols and copyrighted pictures is not allowed. You can report skins and profiles that break those rules.

If Steam Support sent you a Community Message, telling you that you had to change your profile picture- you can respond to the Community Message and dispute the action. Stem Support does not sit around all day looking at profile pictures, looking for ones to randomly ban. Someone reported it- they act on reports on profile content. if you feel it was removed and you were told to change it by mistake- respond to the message you got from Steam Support and try to calmly get it worked out. They may or may not let you repost it. but if you do, and someone is profile stalking you are reporting it, it might just be best to use something less controversial or less prone to being reported by haters and opponents in the games you are playing.

I get it. You don't understand what is actual meaning for that symbol. Read whole artical you sent me to see that symbol is used in a nonracist way. Than start researching... But my question is, why skin can have Celtic Cross and i can't? Maybe they should remove it from the game. I mean, they banned me for it so....

You have no VAC bans or game bans showing on your profile.
Who banned you?
Getting kicked from a server by the server admin or owner is not the same as being banned from a game.
Being told by Steam Support to change your avatar is not the same as being banned from a game.

Your account shows no bans, so...

So is the swastika, but you won't catch any users getting away with having that as a pfp... Bad people can ruin things for everyone, it's how the world works, don't bother trying to dispute or rationalize, just accept that it's not a good image to be using as a pfp and move on.

Edit: and just to clarify, pretty much all hate symbols have been appropriated and repurposed by the groups using them. Once the connotation has bee changed, it's hard to link them to anything else... Being educated on a symbols origin is irrelevant and is not an excuse to use it.

The problem is, i was hoping you would understand that certain symbols are seen as hate symbols, it does not matter if it is used in a non-hate context. I am not even going to discuss this anymore, just have a talk with steam Support as IFIYGD suggested. Good luck with that.

I see what are you talking about. I will not use that symbol as a profile pic, becouse of other people not knowing actual meaning. I got banned for 7 days. Yesterday got unbanned. Now i have myself as a profile pic. If they ban me i will see it as a personal attack. But, question still remains... Why is there a Celtic Cross on a Glock Oxid Blaze skin, made by people who banned me for that symbol

And to be clear, symbol is MADE in a non hate context. Than stolen by some satanists and used in a hate context. Today it is used in both ways. Depends on where you live, probably...

Steam's Discussions Rules and Guidelines only apply to Discussions, Reviews, and User Generated Content. Games have their own, much more lenient rules (basically almost anything goes as long as it's not outright illegal or so controversial that it being on platform would harm Steam/Valve) and can contain plenty of stuff that can get a user posting the same banned.

Basically if the game is on platform, it's content already has Steam's approval for being here. Although Steam does on occasion ban games after release most removals are due to some kind of abuse or copyright dispute and not due to in-game content.

This list is kinda bogus and lost its meaning instantaniously
https://www.adl.org/hate-symbols
Just read the line:
the symbols most frequently used
The list is more like a museum of symbols. A lot of them aren't used and are extremely rare even.
I mean symbol number two is 100%. I never heard of that one.
oh, the poor steam discounts.

hate symbols are only hate symbols if they are actively used as such. The most well known example is the hooked cross, this symbol is no longer used as hate symbol (at all). It is only used in games, history books, and in modern times on the map to indicate shinto shrines or something.
the 'hate' that was associated on the symbol is burried basically. It has been forgiven, and people no longer see it as something to worry about of feel oppressed with, so it isn't even used as a joke.

but the list still lists such forgiven symbols 'as actively being frequently used', because they're victims and like the pats they get from playing victim I suppose, or are simply unforgiving. Full history behind the symbol use is excluded and so indirectly they make people permanently afraid of them.

Anyway this list can only get bigger and not smaller due to this. Hense you'll probably see a lot more weirdness going in there at some point because everything can be corrupted to a hate symbol

(edit: no idk how it is in the rest of the world, but somehow I doubt you see a lot of these symbols.)

(edit 2: keep in mind that people rather not take any risk. some people easily get offended by ideas and symbols can bring them ideas. Despite your intention may be different, since it is just a symbol and not a message the idea is up to the reader to decide and can invoke all kinds of bad stuff in them and ... publishers as well as steam likely don't want any trouble, so that maybe why your avatar got removed)

How can you even compare the crosshair image of that clock oxid blaze skin you are talking about to a Celtic Cross. Doesn't look similar at all.

Lets forget about that. I accept my ban, people are not educated enough and dont want to learn. What about Glock Oxide Blaze with Celtic Cross? Put SpongeBob on profile pic and if you get reported you will not get banned becouse of reports. If glock can have it, maybe they see symbol like i do. But than why am i getting banned? They see it as hate symbol? But why do we have glock skin with that same symbol
